Are there rooms available at the Sportsman's Lodge or Mona Lisa ?

The Europa would be a last choice for me.

I would say there are many many other choices that are far better.

Stayed there once many years ago. The hotel and rooms were fairly nice-- but because of location would not even consider this place. Stay at Sportsman, La Amistad or Dunn Inn. Hate to say it-- but even Morazan would be a better choice-- IMHO.

Don't know if anyone said Europa or SL were too far-- just that Europa is in a crummy neighborhood. SL is in nice neighborhood-- and is a short walk to DR. Yes Morazan is in a good night life location if you don't mind-- Roaches, broken down elevators, plumbing problems and Ricardo etc. etc. etc.

Honestly I don't like the Europa just because it isn't a mostly-monger hotel and some of the people there thumb their noses at you for mongering. They DID have one of the most beautiful desk clerks I've seen though! Wow!

But I don't get the criticism that it's too far, yet the same people say the SL is fine. The SL is also too far. With both you would have to take a cab to the Del Rey or Key Largo. If you are satisfied with the few girls the SL has on an average night then fine, but otherwise, if you want to take in the full view at the Del Rey, both the SL and Europa are too far. Stay at the Morazan or the Del Rey.

So if too far means a 10 minute $2 cab ride, just loosen up. Its ten minutes of conversation with your Chica and if you've already moved in on her you can at least make out for 10 min. And it's two bucks! Jeez.

That is all

Europa is a decent hotel.. I stayed there on my first trip to CR.. I believe I paid 42/night including tax from Orbitz. They include a custom order omlette breakfast which is nice.. I only saw a roach once or twice.. HDL and SL are not far! Nice 10-15 minute walk.. Unless you are 80 and walk really slow.. no offense! Look on the map, they are about 10 blocks away? I even walked at 11pm a couple of times.. Just stay in the light away from the shadows.. Some common sense stuff. Of course chicas won't walk and make you take a taxi even if it's 2 blocks!
