Post subject:  Doing a visa run to Nicaragua and need info

Hi all, I'm doing a visa run to Nicaragua at the end of the month and need some info.

I checked the old post on the subject but they are several years old

I'm using Tica Bus from San Jose and going to Granada, Nicaragua. What are some decent girl friendly hotels in town and where can I find said girls :D ?

Also, whats the best way to get to a hotel from the Tica bus stop and what should I be paying the taxi driver? don't want to get ripped off.

Thanks in advance gents,

Greg

Great place to stay:

hospedajevaleria@gmail.com

E mail her and make a reservation (its like $35 or $40 night; not expensive - policy is to pay your entire stay in advance) - she will help you with your other question too   .

From the bus stop to the hotel its a fairly short ride - the taxi fare will not be much - but ask first if you are concerned over possibly overpaying by a cordoba or two

I like Granada a lot, but don't expect a "gulch" like in San Jose - or anything approaching the HDR - people are very nice, food better than CR, lots of places to eat and drink, interesting, pretty town - and a "Visa run" is just enough time to visit.

PS I think the search function on this site is a little difficult to use, however there are much more recent posts about the place and some recent threads - may be worth it to give it another shot :)

I have been to Granada on Transnica and from Granada on both Tica Bus and Transnica. Would definitely use Transnica unless they were sold out and I had to settle for Tica Bus. Executive service $20.00 more then regular and in my opinion is worth it. Transnica stops in Granada both ways have been told Tica Bus only goes into Granada when going south to San Jose. Going north they drop you off on the highway outside Granada. Not sure if that is correct but you might want to check it out.

http://transnica.com/

First time was on business and had no choice of hotels so stayed at the Alhambra. Great hotel but not chica freindly. Second time stayed at Hospedaje Valeria room with a/c was $35.00. Basic hotel but Valeria very hospitable and usually a few other gringos in residence to talk with and go out for food and drinks.

When the bus arrives their will be taxis at the station. You have to negotiate as they have no meters. They will ask for $5 but will settle for 1or 2. It is common in Nicaragua for drivers to pick up other fares in the same cab so tell him $2.00 only if "exclusivo".

Valeria will call in girls if you wish or you will find some walking on the main street from the park to the lake. Valeria's is only a half block from that main street which has loads of restaurants and bars.

Thats why I gave you the hotels website  - and yes, just to be on the safe side, I'd book in advance although finding a room in Granada did not seem all that difficult

Another option is the 1/2 trip via air to Rio Indio Lodge in Greytown Nicaragua. The flight leave Pavas airport at 7 a.m. and flies to Greytown. From there you take a nice boat ride to the Lodge where you tour the facilities and have brunch. after brunch you take a boat ride back to the airport in Greytown and fly back to Pavas. You are back in Pavas at 12:30-1:00 pm. where you get stamped for an additional 90 days. There has been a couple of CRT brothers who have taken this trip and really rave about it. This is just another option if you don't want to take the long bus ride.

New owners allow SPAM on CRT, promoting services already advertised in the classified section? Just gets worse and worse...[/quote]

I understand fully what you are saying Noneya, however, I do not make a dime on this one. No commission, no money, no kickback. Just a way to help the CRT brothers extend their Visa's here. I have been glad to do it and will continue helping anyone that needs it.

let me see if I have this straight. I checked both profiles . O.L.D. VIP member for 2 1/2 years, lives in C.R. , 214 post, lost of great reviews. Noneya, newbie member not even 4 months from parts unknown, total of 9 post . What makes Noneya the expert? Got to agree with the Doggs friends backing. If he say he's offering members another option if they choose and he doesn't charge a fee or make a commission, then I believe him. Besides, I read the reviews of the 2 guys who took the trip. Thinking about going myself. You go O.L.D.
