Post subject:  Interbus - Hard to Understand This One
So I made an online reservation to take Interbus from the airport to Hotel Little Havana. The reservation was accepted and I received a confirmation by e-mail clearly stating that the drop off point would be HLH. A day later I received an e-mail message saying that drop off at the HLH was not possible and that the closest point would be the Sportsmens Lodge - "just a few blocks away". I replied saying it is hard to understand how Interbus can get me as far as the SL but not the next two blocks. I received back no explanation - just an offer to refund my cc payment. ??????

They only pickup and drop off a certain hotels. They will drop you at Castillo which is closer to hlh, but I'm willing to bet for a small tip the driver will be glad to drop you off at hlh as he will drive right by it after leaving Castillo. So basically tell them hotel Castillo and ask the driver to drop you at hlh for a small tip.

Why are you messing around with Interbus from the Airport to HLH. To Jaco or MA I get. Cancel that shit! Do you really want to be crammed into a tiny bus with a bunch of ecko tourists and lesbians stopping at their hotels first? Waiting for that last lesbian couple to clear immigration/customs so you can leave the Airport?

If you want personnelized door to door service go with http://www.puravidatransport.com/ (Steve, ex-pat, who is a CRT brother)

or just for tips which is oneluckydogg on this site (click classified at the top of the screen)

PVT would be my choice as he has picking up CRT'ers for years at the Airport. (you can also pick his brain on the drive in) as a first timer this is the way to go IMO.

Steve will be standing out of the front door of the airport waiting for ya with a sign with your name on it. For a few bucks more you get so much more! he will swing by Max Y Menos (grocerey store, Steve speaks fluent spanish and will come into the store with ya) on the drive in so you can get supplies for your room (snacks/ mixer/ waters etc...) hell, he will even give you the walking tour of DR, SL, NF etc... after you check in and drop your stuff in your room.

Since your staying at HLH, Steve will go into the bar after you drop your bag in the room and point out the girls who have skills and who to avoid...that info itself is worth the couple extra bucks. :wink:

Amen. I want to un-complicate travel, NOT add possible hinks. A driver may refuse to go to another 'non-approved' drop off location and you could find yourself dealing with moving your luggage from the van to the side walk and wait for a taxi, IN the Rain. All to save a few dollars.

I know a lot of guys will respond and say they were the only one on the bus with no other stops ahead of them but that is not guaranteed and not what your signing up for.

One hour, heck the very first hour, on vacation wasted is not a chance I'd take.

They do not drop of at the HLH because the owners nose is still a little bent out of shape. A few years ago he made a drop there and a girl was waiting for one of the guys with a brick, rock or something ... so Alex tells me. She broke the window of the van aiming for the guy.

So just book a nearby hotel. When you get to the airport just let Alex know you want to go to the HLH instead. No problem and no extra tip necessary.

Alex has no skin in the game and will also show you how to use the bus in the future if you wish. For smokers he will show you where you can get a quick fix too. I have taken interbus 4 or 5 times this year to the HLH with no problem and once maybe twice to the SL. Great service.

Santo Tomas would the closest point of drop. HLH is only a block down the hill from Santo Tomas.
