I am bringing my own this trip so chica fees are not an issue. But, I have never stayed there before. I usually stay at Sleep Inn, but I was price checking, can get the Holiday Inn for $76. One q for aqnyone who has stayed there--is it quiet street noise wise? I presume the higher floors are but what about the lower floors should I get put there?

Sleep Inn is quiet, at least third floor center facing the Colonial, but it's $95. It's worth it but I thought maybe I'd try the Holiday Inn this trip.

I started staying at the Holiday Inn Aurola before they phucked up the Presidente--I really like it there-I have a local girlfriend in Sabinilla and I just sign her in when I check in and have no problems--never been hassled here at all. rooms are quiet

+1

Unless you are an MP guy 100% of the time, and don't plan on bringing back company, b/c the guest fee is like $75 + tax (yeah, you read right  ) - rooms are also fairly quiet, a rariety for San Jose, good location, but the guest fee makes "guests" a non starter - I stayed there years ago, when they had a sainer policy, and remember paying $79/night.

All true. But the OP clearly stated he was bringing "sand to the beach" and a "ham sandwich to the banquet" :P

You know what? I could go for a good ham and cheese sandwich right now. Piled on think, plenty of mustard, and on rye bread or a fresh kaiser roll. :) Good smoked ham is hard to come by here in Colombia (without paying an exhorbitant amount like the deli shop in Oviedo). :(

Ooops... sorry for the threadjack.

I stayed there three or four times, many years ago, and it was extremely quiet. I stayed in the mid to upper floors, perhaps floors 8 thru 14.
