About 3 weeks ago I booked my flight to SJO in Feb. on Hotwire on Copa for 573 which is a decent but not great price out of Chicago. Today I just happened to look on Hotwire and saw my flight package for 440. I tried to get Hotwire to give me back the difference but the SOB's wouldn't do it. I know some sites do this.

Then I looked on Cheap-O and saw that Spirit was now in the market with flights for the time I am going to SJO. That wasn't the case 3 weeks ago. I would never take Spirit again because of the hidden charges, they are rarely on time, they are a bunch of jerks and they have lousey flight times.
But I realize absolutely now, though I figured that before, that when the so-called discount lines enter the market they drive the prices down across the board and I wish there was a way to find this out in advance.

I always deal direct with the company I am booking with, I had a bad experience using third party sites like exedia in my case with a car rental where I ended up getting charged two times and it took almost 4 months to get it straightened out. One thing I love about flying Jetblue is that from the day you book till the day you fly, if the fare drops all you have to do is call and they credit you the difference on your next flight. They also have no limit to it, so if its 5 bucks less today you get 5 off, if its 10 next week you get 10 off, a month later its 50, you get 50 off, then your next flight would be 65 bucks cheaper. It is a very fair pricing policy I think, at least if you fly a lot as its given in a credit that is good for one year.

Ive only had into a few situations when I've had problems with flights/hotels over the years. I make a quick phone call to the company, if no refund is granted right then, I just take it up with my CC company and reverse it right then.

They might dick you around, but they can't dick around your CC company or they'll lose the ability to process the payments. Oddly the paperwork starts flowing a helll of alot faster when they ask

The only third party that will refund the difference is Orbits. Have had refunds several times. It is not till after the travel date though.
They want to make sure you are traveling.

I also don't book hotels thru anyone else other than the Hotels.com. Pay for ten and get one free.
