I received the following e-mail from the SL a couple days ago. Looks real and legit but with all the scams going on these days I'm always skeptical. Was wondering whether anyone else received the same notification and if it appears legit: According to our records you have previously been a guest of the Sportsmens Lodge in San Jose, Costa Rica. Yes I received same email and just deleted it primarily because I don't want them sending me anything as to if it is legit I did not give it any thought. Sam |

I got the same email. I also had the same concerns especially sine the link did not seem related. |

I received the same e-mail and had similar concerns. I PM'd Bill and he verified the e-mail was from a company acting on his behalf. |

It might have been nice if we had a little heads up and if they used the sportmenscr.com domain instead of something else. Further, this is obviously a 3rd party and where is the agreement without clicking the link as to how my email is used. Not to mention that my email has now been handed to that 3rd party without my permission. Bill my friend, what are you thinking? |

Same email for me. I deleted it when I found out it was a 3rd party vendor. One can never be too careful. |

This is actually a service we hired to ask our prior clients for opt in permission in order to us to send out offers and information. I have paid them to ask our customers for permission to opt-in only. It is through a large internet entity that will not use our list for any other purposes. Thanks for the update, no harm done so far. Although, I guess I am a little anal as to my adverse attitude to spam ergo who has my email. I think the company you are using is just renting their services from Amazon the same way Zynga or Facebook or any of us could. But, I would have expected them to offer you a co-branding option so that it would have been much more transparent that you were in control. Or come to the brotherhood and weigh through our bullshit before offering out our email addresses to an outsider. That said, apology accepted, issue closed for me and thanks again. |
