Sorry, but the search features doesn't work on "hotel M". I walked by the other day and it is closed. Did the awful economy suck that up too? The only reason why I can see that model failing is due to lack of discretionary income for upper/middle class guys. |

LOCATION! add in they really never could defined if they were a private club or a hotel, the policy of having to call in entertainment, the price point of that entertainment, etc etc etc. I'm sure guys here could add a couple dozen more reasons why they were unsuccessful. |

Hotel M's owner Eric has been jailed in Puntarenas since August 2011. I won't get into specifics but it is a weird mess. There are a few threads here discusing the specifcs - do a search on "Eric Lord" and they may pop up. Michelle (Eric's wife and the "M" in Hotel M) tried to keep things going on her own but failed. The hotel closed down a few months ago. I have not spoken to Michelle about this, but the word on the street is the hotel was foreclosed and taken over by a Tico ownership group. Apparently they plan to remodel and re-open the original location and the house next door following the same high-roller model as the original. Well, I learned today from a deep insider the true story. I'm shocked and disappointed. He seemed like a good guy. However, I have learned that he was looking for a quick buck and set that whole thing up. He is going to be sitting jail for a long time, then I imagine he will be deported. Lesson learned - don't piss off the wrong people. |

Online public records indicate that Erick married on September of 2011, just before the interview with La Extra. I heard from someone that they are trying to sell, and it was implied that Erick may have got out of jail. I'm not sure if that is the case. |
