From a very interesting Thread on Our Thing viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41717&p=474691 came these 2 ads: a microbrewery in the Lake Arenal/ La Fortuna area http://volcanobrewingcompany.com/ and in SJO, a dog-friendly B&B http://www.casa69.com/

They would not want this gringo in their hotel/microbrewery. I would eat and drink up all their profits.
Nice find, though, Jazzbo. I have an excuse to return to La Fortuna someday.

i stopped at the microbrewery the other day. beautiful location overlooking lake arenal, very friendly staff. they have a nice pool, an all-too-rare-in-CR tennis court, skate park, pool table and good beer. rates are $100 pp pd for lakeview room and all the food/booze you can humanly ingest. i found the menu prices for walk-ins to be remarkably low although i didnt order anything. same owner as witchs rock in tamarindo which does bangup business. major props to this guy for his success building a company down here, an impossible feat according to many on this board and he started from nothing supposedly.

interesting venue. Has someone tried all the microbrews on the lineup? some of them looked pretty dark for that tropical climate.

I wonder if you ate and drank to much, if you would be pulled aside by the staff and counselled?

The menu looks delicous.
