First off hellow to every one as a new member. Like to know more about my options on how to get from the airport to Jaco. I get in on Sept 4th at 11.30 on Copa and if I use the shuttle I sit around for 4 hours. There got to be some better way, or if any one wants to share a taxi, let me know! Have a great day. |

Wow, CR is getting exspensive. I am coming from Medellin and the shuttle to town from the airport is 7 bucks. Same back. Like to find some one to split the cost on a taxi I guess. |

Jaco is a lot further, plus the guy has to drive back of course. Keep trying for a another passenger but your best bet maybe cooling your heels and waiting for the shuttle. there is a new decent bar restaurant arrival/departure level where the beer is reasonably priced. Problem is they are getting ready for security purposes to direct arrivees directly to immigration and customs and so you won't be able to get to the restaurant once that starts. I do not believe it is imminent. Or you can take a cab to a casino and a few restaurants a few miles away and then double back. Or you can rent a car cheap but not recommended for first time. |

Considering its probably a 3 -4 hour round trip at that time of the day including airport pickup etc, $100 is a good deal. We've paid $100 for this trip for the last 5 years. |

I always use to hate to have to spend so much on transportation to Jaco when I lived there and would return from the States. If I went straight from the airport it was $80-$100. I always wanted to get a little more out of my money so I would spend the night in the city for $50 bucks or so and go on the bus for $2 the next day or $35 with Grayline. Didn't save that much but got a night in a decent room and a trip instead of just a ride to the beach. Might not be an option for you, just a possibility. Always depended on my tired factor too. I tend not to be as frugal when I'm beat. If you want to go directly from the airport you are going to have to pay the hundie. Unless you don't arrange in advance and just wing it on the hope you can find someone to share outside. Not like you are stuck if you don't, there are tons of taxis out front. A few times I've found drivers waiting outside with signs and I would ask them if they had extra space for another person. Not lots of options though. |
