Hi, what are the chances my hotel hold my bags if I schedule an Interbus pickup for the afternoon after check out time?

There is a GOOD chance that the hotel will extend the courtesy of holding your bags, especially if propina is offered.

The more important question is how safe will your bags be while being held.

I suggest that you ask a trusted wingman to keep your bags in his room until you leave town.

There were reports about the DelRey bellboy's along time ago. They give you a ticket stub at their desk right at the front door. I guess it depends on where you stay. I've never had a problem at any of the hotels but my style luggage is lockable. It would take a bell hop with big balls to break a lock. Ideal if you don't have a friend that can babysit.

Also, I always bring a roll of that clear 2 inch packing tape and wrap it up all the way around, because once TSA broke one of my locks looking inside. They have the right to do that. They had suspicion of the two Cobra walkie talkies I had inside, I suppose. Left me a nice little card saying they did, etc, but one of my luggage locks was ruined and stuff was hanging out when I got it off the carousel in SJ. I don't want to buy a new one because it's an old huge hardshell samsonite that are getting hard to find, so I tape the hell out of it. Two of the three locks still work. The tape will help you with the hotel check in, I would say.

Yes tape the bag, it is a good idea. I can break in any bag with a ink pen in under 30 seconds. Then I can zip the bag back. You would never know I was in your bag.

Thanks, I will be using the tape now. I'm going to be staying at the Cocal Hotel in Jaco, and want to try to do something on the morning that I leave to go back to San Jose. I may try to get in a surf lesson, or some other activity. I'm staying at the Del Ray on the first night of my trip.

That's why I like my hard case samsonite so much, you can break em of course but it'll be obvious.

Well, DGD, the bag isn't supposed to be locked when you check it. :P I save those little love notes from TSA (funny stuff...I carry a LOT of radio gear in MY Samsonite...that hard shell case is most certainly cracked and beat up...but duct tape fixes anything, eh?)...well those TSA love notes....they're all in chronological order and I leave 'em on top so that when the next TSA staffer opens the bag up....they see they're not the first......

Didn't know that then. I still lock it. If TSA wants to cut the tape and break the last two locks, go ahead, but I am not going to be easy pickings for the baggage guys. Got hit hard by the baggage guys with one of those soft, zipper luggage in Nica a few years ago.

You can lock your luggage with TSA approved locks. The approved locks will have either the Travel Sentry or Safe Skies logo. Some of them will even have an indicator showing if they were opened.

Well, truth be told, so do I and so have I. Filed a claim with then Continental for pilferred baggage and got paid. Them cashmere sweaters are costly....the baggage handlers had good taste too! Hell, one pair of "real" Levi's cost over $65.00 per pair on top of a couple of $300 cashmere sweaters. :D

If you stand at the reception desk at the historic Sportsman's Lodge and look to your left, toward the modern gym, you will notice a large wooden set of suitcase lockers.

I think these will do the trick.
