This is Rodolfo from Hotel La Amistad,
I want to apologize to the person that booked a room with us for superbowl weekend and got bumped, well we are very sorry for the inconvenience, we got confused with a double booking which ended up as not true and it was too late to mend the error, we had never had a problem with any guests or reservations we just got confused with this reservation and our intentions is never to bump a client, we are willing to give you a free upgrade if you want to try us again and see that we do not like to treat our customers in a disrespectful way, anyway I do apologize for this inconvenience.
If I can do something for you just let me know, I´ll be happy to do so.
Best regards.

Not my business but too little too late. It's a lot more than an "inconvenience" to be walking down the street of a foreign country with your bags because if the incompetence of others. It's dangerous! It makes you a 'mark' for those who would do harm.

I think that a free room for the same number of nights at the place of his choosing is more appropriate. Not an upgrade where you still get the revenue! Shameless!

I'd bet that even IF, yes I said IF, this story is true, the only reason you are offering anything is because of this bad publicity. Otherwise you'd have cared for him properly when he was there. And you would contact him directly, not through this forum.

I know I will NEVER give you one red cent!

I have stayed at La Amistad on about 5 occassions since I switched over from the Presidente in January 2011. I have always been treated like a valued guest by Rudy, Carlos, Matt and the rest of the staff. If you read the other thread it's not to little to late. As one of the posters pointed out it is not fair to the hotel to complain five months after the fact Whether or not walking down the street is dangerous or not would depend on the time of day and the area of town. If it was in the evening then the person should spend a few $$$ and take a cab.

Rudy, came on this site to apologize for a mistake that was made. He didn't lie or make up some lame excuse he owned up to the mistake. What do you want him to do?

Sometimes things like this happen. I stayed at the Presidente on about 20 occassions one one occasion they were overbooked and I ended up at the Clarion, they apologized and upgraded me for free the next time I stayed there. I was a little pissed at the time but it wasn't that big of a deal. Another time they overbooked the spa rooms, which I usually took, and they gave me a regular room for $35 a night instead of $70. The other 18 or so times things went as they should.

People and businesses sometimes screw up , if you bring it to their attention in a timely manner they are in a much better position to correct the problem or make amends. Your comment about the La Amistad not contacting the customer is asinine. If he had a complaint he should have e-mailed or called their toll free number within a few days not five months later.

Last September, I was staying at the SL and brought a newbie with me. His first time out he went for a threesome and the girls tried to rip him off and not perform. I saw Bill sitting by the pool tables and I went up and explained the situation to him. Within 5 minutes he verified my story, kicked the girls out and apologized to the the guest and bought a round of drinks for us. I could have been a J/O and just got on this board and slammed the establishment in March (five months later) and hoped for a response. I complained in a timely manner which gave the establishment time to correct the situation in a very timely manner.

In April, 2012 I had reservations at Bally's Hotel & Casino in Vegas. They screwed up my reservation and I ended up at the Flamingo for $40 a night. The hotel manager sent me an e-mail promising to make amends. I just stayed there from July 4-July 8th. They upgraded me to suite and charged me $29.00 per night. Most establishments, regardless of how big or small will rectify a problem if you handle it in a timely and reasonable manner.

Your response about not spending one red cent in the place is also a joke. Every hotel screws up at one time or another. Anybody who has traveled to any extent realizes this.

Post subject:  Re: From Hotel La Amistad

I stayed at La Amistad a few months back without any issues and was pleased with how they treated me, but I have to agree that a free room upgrade on the next visit is a slap in the face to the person bumped on Superbowl weekend. A completely free stay for at least half of the nights the person was originally booked is better compensation.

Like I said before I was treated very well when I stayed at the La Amistad a few months ago, but if management thinks a free room upgrade is acceptable settlement of such an error during Superbowl weekend, I have to rethink giving this hotel any future business. I hope the management of La Amistad steps up on this one and does the right thing.
