Post subject:  question on renting home in Jaco

hi Crt members.

i just signed up to be a CRT member and taking my virgin trip to CR in august 9 for my bachelor party.
will be staying in SJ and then 3 nights in Jaco beach. Planning to rent a beach front home instead of hotels since there will be 6 of us and we want to keep the party till the wee hours and keep the party together.
My question is will there be any rules or restriction to bring chica back to the house?

any feedback or experience from prior will be helpful

Jaco homeowners are well aware of the things that go on around town. The vast majority have a "no guest" policy and you will need to search a while to find an owner willing to allow guests. Don't attempt to get around it thinking the owner won't know as most have security that will inform them if you break the rules.

I would recommend a pair of three bedroom condos at the Vista Mar which is on the same property as the Cocal hotel which is the new hot spot for the hobby in Jaco.

I use VRBO a lot to rent houses in CR and I've seen one or two that put a no prostitution allowed clause in the contract (but I've never rented one in Jaco). The biggest problem I have with rental house contracts are the ones that put limits on power consumption. I understand the owners getting frustrated because renters leave the a/c at max cool and the hot tub on high all day even though they are all out doing a day tour, but some of the kilowatt limitations they impose are ridiculous. If you are unable to find a house that suits your needs I'm sure you could find two 3-bedroom condos next to each other.

Have you ever been to Jaco? Unless you are a surfer that place is about as appealing as the beaches in Iowa. Ugly, black sand, pebble laden, parking lot style dirt. Went there one time and would not return if they gave me the place. That's just my opinion though.

thanks everyone for the feedbacks and recommendation.
my bachelor trip will be for 6 days and 5 nights...want to enjoy the city life in SJ for couple nights but at the same time want to hit the beach with my buddies that's not so far out and still able to an awesome night life when the sun goes down.
Other than Jaco beach, is there another recommended spot that is not so far away and still able to have fun at night and party with the ladies?
many thanks

Here is the best listing of the most party friendly vacation rental homes and condos in Jaco and none of them have "extra guest" fees, extra electric fees or any other crazy add on fees.

Have a blast in both San Jose & Jaco. I recently spoke to my friends at Jaco VIP and they said they just got a nice new party friendly 7 bedroom house in Escazu they will be renting for San Jose party groups. I can't wait to see it as there are really not too many private vacation rental homes near the San Joe party scene. From what they told me about it, it's going to be pretty decked out and cater to groups going to party in San Jose. We'll see.

To be quite blunt: Jaco sucks. It is a filthy hole and does not represent Costa Rica. The ONLY reason I could ever see to go there would be maybe to realize you should never go there...... :?
Playas Tamarindo and Tambor are decent with some action available. Although, they are a bit harder to get to than Jacko.
Unfortunately, San Jose is thee poosie capital here. Too bad someone did not have the foresight to set up shop in some beautiful beach town.....that would make excursions to CR much more enjoyable and believable, because you would actually go home with a tan......Just sayin'.
