Do not make me post why that phucking place is so dead.

Hopefully some decent people will soon own it! May be a good expansion for HLH in the future.

I was hoping that the HLH crew could buy the Clarion. Now that would be something! The Del Rey would be second string.
Why the animosity towards the ownership?
Did I miss something?I have been there a few times and the drinks are cheap enough and the bar food is decent.
I agree with the other poster that they have a good setup for sports viewing.
Bob, I don't know if you are "trolling" but in the event your post is sincere (and since I get a kick out of your sense of humor

) I'll give you the short version.
Dunn Inn hired Boyd of HLH fame in a management capacity to promote the Dunn Inn in conjunction with their remodeling and expansion a couple of years ago - everything seemed to be going well and many were thinking DI was going to be a "boutique" version of Hotel Del Rey.
The buzz was great, and a lot of it was attributable to Boyd's efforts (he did a great job) - well, shortly after the grand reopening, Boyd and the DI part company .
This was a shock to many - sentiment, especially on CRT was clearly on Boyd's side, DI management was awful for the termination, b/c it looked to many to be unfair, unwarranted, and just when the efforts were paying off, DI management was perceived to be getting rid of the person most responsible for their new success - although always 2 sides to every story, mangement took the bad publicity on CRT.
Regardless, they have never seemed to regain that positive buzz and energy present right after their re opening - and looks like they don't have a customer base to operate a res't, casino - and the bar is often dead - so right now - and things can change overnight - it looks like they spent a lot of money and - right now - are not getting a return, although the hotel gets good grades, and seems to be doing OK (but it was doing Ok before they spent all the money on the rest and casino) - so who do you blame? Management.
And aprapo of nothing, I also have heard good things about Guy Grand - but I can't get past every time I hear his name or see it in print, I'm reminded of a '70's porno star
