I already booked my trip before I found this site. After reading many of the posts, my trip would be scheduled totally differently than what I am currently going with. But it's too late and not worth crying about. I will make the most of the trip I have.

My questions about this hotel: 1) Are "guests" allowed? 2) Is it close enough to the Gulch that I can walk during the days? I know to take a taxi at nights.

You joined in 2007 must be a mistake on the website.

Nice place, don't know it, but know where it is, way too far too walk, and regarding guests, if it's like it's sister Barcelo hotel, the Palacio which is surprisingly close, no guests without a bunch of baloney. Ways around that at the Palacio but you have to know the lay out, and I don't at this new one.

You can walk to the Paseo Colon area MPs from there without too much effort but do have to cross a wide road with lots of traffic as you leave Parque Sabana behind.

I'm coming back down 26-30 May and proly will stay at HLH or SML!. Can't wait for some of that juicy pie!! :D

Since this hotel is neither a CRT sponsor, nor discussed on the board (believe me - not just Sportsmans and HLH are discussed here, although you might be tempted to draw that conclusion  :P  )

But rather than depend on the knowlwdge of others, why not either call them or e mail them and ask about their "guest policy" - this way you know for sure, and they will very likely know what you are refering to.

I will not "dog pile" and tell you you made a poor choice since I think you realize that.

I do not understand why guys - especially new guys - pick a hotel w/out info as to their guest policy - cabs are cheap in Costa Rica - a guest ban is a hassle, and while the Hotel Asia (a real shit hole) and some other short time hotels can suffice, its not the ideal.

Would you be out a lot of money if any at all if you changed your reservation? There are so many hotel options that you wouldn't have to worry about anything that are closer to the action to choose from I just wonder why not make a change in hotel?

Pretty simple, no?

The OP did zero research (like many others) and did not ask about their "guest" policy - the not asking was my point - how difficult is it to pose a simple question :?:

My advice to Mike is stay elsewhere - but not the Holiday Inn   :P

Thanks for the responses, guys.

To respond to some of you wondering why I'm staying there:

I'm using Delta Vacations and it seemed the best they offered. I didn't know about this site at the time. And I was really originally going for a "regular" vacation. The girl part of it got figured out after I booked the trip.

You'll figure something out if you need to lay your heads. Nice hotel so enjoy that part, check out the scene and see if you like it and where you might stay the next time. I like the Sleep Inn because it is in the epicenter and it's is quiet, a rarity downtown, but let me qualify that by saying 3rd floor facing the Colonial, and there is a $35 chica fee. That part hurts but it's a very nice, new hotel with alot of extras. I'm only IN SJ two nights anyway, the night in and the night out, so the chica fee is not a biggie for me. Sleep is.

I'd visit all of the hotels frequently mentioned here and see for youself what you like. They are all pretty close together.
