It has been 5 years since my last trip, I do want to stay at the SL
I have not seen the changes ( 5 years )

But my knees are bad now so stairs are not my friend.

That being said what rooms would you recommend from the courtyard are the easiest ?
junior suit or better.

Unless I have been gone longer than I think the Presidential suite has the most stairs dude. I would use the new wing lower level it's very nice there.

You have been gone longer than you think. :) You're probably thinking of the Penthouse suite in the Modern wing. Definitely a lot of stairs.

The Presidente suite is the first room on the right when you walk into the Sportsmens' Lodge. No stairs. Very nice room, my wingman always stays in this room.

The new wing (I assume you mean Modern, not Mansion) lower level means walking past the Courtyard to the back bar, then going up 2 steps to enter the Modern Wing. At that point he can choose from one of the four lower level Modern wing rooms (Palmas, Hermosa, El Rey, and Ilusion). My suggestions would be Las Palmas or El Rey.

good points from all that have posted ...but give him the facts about getting the room he wants(needs) unless he books at least 6 months out and he has picked a week or weekend that isnt busy ....he will gets what left ...and may need to switch rooms a few times during a 7 day stay .....just the way it is ....so book early if you need something special (nothing bad about the SL ...just the way it is for a hotel that many of us love)

Thanks guys, some good ideas.

I am aware of the possible trouble with the courtyard area although I like the look.

I can deal with a few steps, I just remember the new wing top floor was two flights I think ?

A girl in each arm IS the best option.

Thanks.

One trip, my rooms of choice were taken so I took the $59/night Fiesta (???) room for 2 days until a room of choice became available. When you enter the SL, hang a right at reception desk, walk back 30 meters and hang another right. No stairs. Fiesta (I think that's the name) has one window that actually views a hallway near the lower level bar bathrooms. Noise can be an issue when the bar is hoping in the evening hours. But quite a steal for $59/night.

Outside the room, there are a number of sofas & lounge chairs in a rather secluded setting. It's like these four rooms tucked away have their own common living room.

The primary drawback from my perspective is the noise in the evenings. The men's bathroom has a sink & paper towel dispenser in the hallway. You'd never imagine how much noise a bunch of drunk mongers can make when using the towel dispenser. But it all ends at midnight and the room is small but comfortable. No stairs!

Enjoy your trip.
