Ok,I have defended this hotel a couple of times in the past, mainly because of location.just got back from 7 nite stay at Morazan. Booked 2 particular rooms for me and a bud 7 weeks ago. Then called a week before arrival to re>confirm, they say no problem. Arrived and of course they gave our rooms to someone else and said we booked the 2 crappy rooms that they had left. I think I said WTF at least 50 times. Phone did work and clogged drain along with noisy side room for my friend. My room was just as bad. Did I say WTF. Ricardo is completely useless and incompetent. I will stay at SL from now on.Just wanted to vent. |

SL is great but so hard to book unless you have long-term plans. |

When I stayed there a few months ago, the TV didn't work right and the room smelled funny.........but I didn't laugh. Fortunately, I was there for only one night. RAC |

What I wrote was only about the half of it. We didn't let this ruin the vacation, still had a real good time. If SL is booked, Dunn Inn is a good place, they also have a great massage girl. |

DaveJohnson wrote: Ricardo is completely useless and incompetent. You got that right...'useless piece of shit', as Vegas Bob would say. I first stayed there in 2000. Since then, I've stayed there countless times, and the last five years have stayed there exclusively. I stay there for the location. Also, on most days, the lunch buffet is quite good and reasonably priced. And of course, no chica fee. I always stay in a junior suite, which is a good value for the price. Due to the outside noise all thru the night, a couple of the suites in the front should probably be avoided, but the other suites are OK. I've thought about staying at the SL, and perhaps the DI, but I like hanging out at the DR, and formerly the NYB (RIP), and that 1-minute walk is so convenient. |

One thing is for certain....if your flight arrives late at night there is a good chance they will give your room to someone else. |

my first years going to san jose the morazan was my hotel ...it was cheap, great location, had a sportbook and there was girls hanging out in the bar and you could find some tasty treats just hanging around .....to the present day ....not cheap anymore, still has a good sportbook ....they made the bar into a smokey slot machine room ....but still has a great location .... The rooms smell (if you are not a smoker ...forget it ..the smell will hit you in the face no matter what room you get ) its the hotel of choice for asians that come to san jose (they must each receive a case of smokes when they pass thur immigration) they have not spent a penny on rooms upgrades in the last 6 years ... I have found the freebird hotel to be the best deal in san jose ....rooms are spotless ...great beds and a nice set up in each room ....location is good for me ....less bums and people giving you that "there is a rich gringo look" |

Firedude, saw your post about late arrival and thats usually true. But, I got to the hotel at 3:00 in the afternoon and they still gave our rooms away. Next day there was a room open on the quiet side, my buddy told Ricardo he wanted that room. Ricardo says that room is reserved for tonight. Bud says, what about my reservation for the room I made 7 weeks ago. Fat ass says you have to speak to management. When we checked out Fat Ass says make sure you call for reservations next time and he will make sure to hold the rooms. ARE YOU KIDDING Me.WTF. (again, this is only the half of it) |

I was there one July fourth weekend and the water was out for 28 hours. Ricky Ricardo was laughing at all the pis*ed off customers. But I can get past all their issues except the elevator. It goes out almost every day for a while and I don't want to get caught in it. |

Thanks for all the negative stories about The Morazan . If it got popular it would be harder to get a room for those of us who enjoy it. I as a 9 year customer have a direct line with no problems getting my room . Over the 9 years I have had issues and situations come up but I have never had what I would call a problem. So with that said please keep up the comments and stay away so that you can be happy. Have a safe trip. |

I have stayed there the last 9 years also and had a few problems like the elevator not working more than once. It's a bitch to the fifth floor. No water for days (memorial weekend a few years back) the roof fell in on the rooms facing the street on the fifth floor . But like Gringotim said it is close to everything that I prefer. Tip the staff and they will help you even fatass RR . I agree coming late has its problems as they have 3 shifts and if some one slips them a little your room is gone. But a great location even through the NYB isn't there anymore and it really isn't that far to JoeB's and Papi's across the street and I also gamble at the Horseshoe . 4 of us have reservations in March again. |

I have stayed there a few times. Back in 1991, my first trip, it was known as the Hotel Amstel. I avoided problems with booked rooms by staying in contact with Jose Troyano the manager at that time who last I heard works at another hotel that is owned by the same group. Ricky Ricardo is a major pain to deal with though. I think he just enjoys annoying people. I had some words with him once and he has been very nice with me since. |
