I received it also, not too sure I want to give them that kind of $ up front. Would be a good deal if you're willing to take the chance. |

Nice website, but no rates posted, I emailed them for same. Anybody have any experience with the former place in terms of "is it quiet", my most important thing. Looking at their map, their statement of 5 minutes from downtown maybe correct, at midnight until 5am. Update: Email I sent to them from their website came back to me undeliverable. |

Hi Everyone, I got the same e-mail too about the "club". I was thinking of staying there over Christmas. He wanted $80 cash or $100 on credit card. I have since found out the owner is in a CR jail over a drug deal that went bad. He has a website, where he tells his story. http://helpericincostarica.com/ The whole thing sounds like a scam to try and recover some dollars to get out of jail. |

I read the Hotel owner's website mentioned above. Can't imagine what is the real story behind this complicated mess, but posting allegations about his accuser bribing judges and prosecutors to keep him locked up doesn't seem like the path I'd take. Aside from pissing them off, defamation is a crime in CR if they could get their hands on the guy doing the posting. So now who is running the hotel or "The Club"? |

Ellis Juan Carlos Ellis Hotel M Manager using these addresses <jcellisp@hotmail.com> and <jcellisp@gmail.com> "Right now if you make the reservation and confirm it, I can give you the rate of 80 us dollars, tax included per night if you pay at check in with cash , otherwise, will be a regular rate , depending on the room we have available. " When I said, I preferred credit card, this is his response: "What I can do in this particular case is give you the rate of a 100 us dollars Per night , including tax ." I am a newbie so I didn't want to do the cash thing until I know the people. |

This "business plan" sounds familiar. A few years ago, a popular monger accommodation, Field of Dreams in the DR, got bought out, and the new owners went the "club route" as well. I believe they even changed the name. The owners tried to sell "memberships" (pre-paid rooms), however, things did not turn out well for the old FOD. |

Kinda eye opening for CR businesses, does not sound good for anyone involved. Well as they used to say " There are 8 million stories in the city, this is one of them." ![]() ![]() ![]() Regards, 911 Driver |

Sounds like a great deal on paper. However it is obivious management is trying to raise cash. Sounds like they are desperate. Good chance this management won't last but a few months if that long. |

What I'm wondering is if he's in the crapper for the foreseeable future, who's really running it, and I don't mean who is the manager. I'm thinking about staying there, but only pay per diem, because it sounds like, if you read between the lines of his blog, anything can happen, especially when he's saying the judge and prosecutor are taking money. Maybe. Happens legally here in the states with campaign contributions. But ouch, when you're a gringo in their joint and they've got the keys, I'd use that info other than publicly on a blog. |

I would turn the fish eye on a business in the USA that operates this I'd want to do a lot of research before I'd trust them. In CR, in addition to the above, I'd want them to have been in business at least a year or two with that business model, and would want to get two or three personal referrals from people that things run smoothly. Otherwise, why bother when you have the Key Largo, Del Rey, Sportmans, HLH and a buncha MP's where you can look for talent. If you detect a faint whiff of bullshit, it's likely there's a lot of cow patties where you can't see them. |

I don't think anyone who knows Eric would believe any of the charges against him. RLFC, your comments are out of line, re-read the story. |
