Post subject:  Rooms at Sportsman's Lodge

Greeting's Gent's,

Recently, I contacted Sportsman's Lodge inquiring about rooms for my trip in March. While I have been to SL on various
occasions, I have yet to actually stay there. Thought I might give them a try on my next trip.

Just curious if those in the know can clue me in as to which room option available to me would be best, keeping in mind that
I am by nature low key, quiet, and prefer a bit of quiet and privacy:

· Standard Regular in the clubhouse at $59 + tax
· Standard Large in the courtyard at $69 + tax
· Standard Deluxe in the modern wing at $89 + tax
· Mansion minisuite in the mansion wing at $109 + tax

Or, would it be better to simply pass on a room at SL and venture over to my usual digs which is La Amistad.

Thanks in advance for your input!!

Given your stated criteria I would go with the Mansion minisuite. The price you were quoted appears to be for Zorro, which is the smallest room located on the 2nd floor of the Mansion wing, and the only Mansion room with a queen bed instead of a king.

My 2nd choice would depend on which Modern Wing room you were quoted. That price could be any of the smaller Modern rooms, some of which are very quiet, some which aren't.

3rd choice - Clubhouse wing, which is somewhat isolated from the rest of the hotel. But the rooms tend to be smallish -- this is the older section of the hotel.

Courtyard rooms are right in the thick of things - most open directly to the main bar area.

MH's advice sounds pretty good to me.

I've been in the Sportsmen's plenty of times but only stayed there once, in a courtyard room.

If you value peace and quiet you DON'T want to be there. Bar area is noisy until midnight (and a bit after as they close down the bar) and that same area starts to stir sometimes as early as 7:30 but certainly by around 9 or 9:30 in the mornings.

If you stay up late, until around 1 and sleep in a bit it probably shouldn't keep you awake but if you spend any time in the room and want peace and quiet while you're awake, don't stay in the courtyard rooms,,,,,,,,

Thanks again for the tips. I opted for a room in the Modern Wing. $140.00 more for 6 days then what I would typically pay
if staying at La Amistad, but it's worth it considering I have access to a gym and easy access both during the day and evening to
women. I think I shall enjoy this place.

Which Modern Room did you get?

Unfortunately, not the ones you recommended. The only room left was El Dorado so I jumped on it. Did a search here
on the board and those who have stayed in this particular room didn't seem to have any complaints. Maybe a little small
but I can deal with that. I'll take ear plugs in case it's noisy lol. Thanks All!

El Dorado is actually one room I've never stayed in; if I'm not mistaken it's on the 2nd floor between Vista del Sol and Amante. You should be fine.

Have a great time!

El dorado is right across from the Penthouse.

What is the room across from ElDorado, guess it would be below the penthouse?

I think the one below the PH is Del Mar.

I just stayed in El Dorado. The room was OK. I would stay there again. Most importantly, the girls didn't have a problem with it.

Don't waste time staying there for the super bowl-sausage fest!! Went last year-Bill should let the girls in for free and make guests buy them food and drinks this year?? 10 of us left and went to HDR for second half. I love SL and Bill-but the super bowl was a huge let down!!

Agreed, save whores for after game is over. Or pre-screen girls who will not be a nuisance during a game. I like a fine mix. A little eye candy around while watching football, but they should only speak when spoken to. :D
