Awhile ago American announced they had made a huge order for new planes split between Boeing and Airbus. All of the MD80 feel would be retired. Yesterday I got this email from AA which announces the first deliveries. Quote: We are excited to introduce the newest member of our fleet, the Boeing 777-300ER. This state-of-the-art aircraft will join our fleet starting in 2012 and offer an upgraded travel experience in every cabin, including a new Economy Class premium seat product. Right now, you need a cigarette lighter (DC) power adapter on their 757's. I don't think they even make those anymore. Tells you how old that fleet is.Unfortunately, the 777-300ER is probably not going to be used on any North/Central America routes. It's an extended range model, so maybe Brazil and points south or Europe/Asia routes. |

Very true but they are also getting new planes that will be use on less long range routes. Those 777s and 787s are obviously for Europe and Asia flights. Nothing like that is needed for DFW/MIA to SJO, AA will probably keep flying those 757s and A300s for the next few years at least.

Just flew DFW-SJO on an old 757. Crampted seats, old moniters kind of like old TV's with egg shaped screen. I had a panic attack on the way down to SJO and male steward was up set with me. Finally a female stewdess talk to me for 15 minutes and calmed me down. She really helped me. Never again will I get on a plane with valium or xanax. |
