The Sportsmen Lodge is booked so I couldn't get a sleeping place there. Instead I booked a hotel at Hotel Presidente. From what I've read, they do not really welcome "guests" in the hotel. I called them and they pretty much confirmed this. So I have also booked a room at HDR for the entire trip. I plan to use that room only for mongering then return to the Presidente to eat and sleep.

How is the walk from HDR to the Presidente? Is it along a main route? Is this walk safe at day time? At night?
Is carrying pepper spray legal in CR? If I walk at night I would feel a lot more confident with spray.

I know booking two hotels wasn't the most cost effective plan but I wanted a nice and quiet smoke free hotel room to sleep in.

Would appreciate any 411 you guys can give on the journey between the two hotels.

Daytime no problem, nightime I would cab it just to be safe, and you can carry spray but if you cab it at night I see no reason to. Have fun 8) 8) If you have a wingman I would walk it at night.

i would walk .
that is closer than going from point A to point B.
it is like going from point A to point A.
go 1 block west, to casino morazan, turn left (south) go 1 more block...
and you are there.

i have an apartment that is 7 blocks west and i walk at all hours.
i am very cautious starting about 4 blocks west and just walk faster
but i am very familiar.

if something happened walking to the presidente, it would have to be chalked up to
extreme bad luck.

my opionion

Spray is legal. Buy two and practice one time if you never have used it. One brand I bought has a little pocket clip, found that to be very practical.

Daytime = walk
night = taxi

two hotels is a nice way to go if you can afford. If you find one dressed appropriately see if you can get her in the Prez and report back. Thanks

Jesus Christ, Rover - its not about the dress code anymore - if the girl has EVER been to the Prez before, she can't get back in - and if they let her in today, she can't get in tomorrow - that's been posted on threads you have participated in; the dress code stuff ship has sailed - not about the dress anymore, but perhaps they are being honest about it - what a surprise :roll: .

Keyser - I've stayed at the Prez many, many times over the past 15 years (never again, obviously...) and I have made the "walk" many times - never a problem.

Just don't be loud, drunk, wear a gold chain, and stupid - its a little creepy, but having done it as much as I have, I've never really felt scared - be prepared for one or two druggy assholes asking you for "one coin...." - ignore them and keep walking - also given the Presidente's visitor policy, I expect you will be making the walk solo :lol: :P :lol: .

I understand why you did what you did, but there are other choices than the Sportsmans (great place BTW) - a little board reading would have given you many more names - I can think of 6 or 7, and I'm sure not all would have been booked up the dates you want to travel :roll:

I hate the Prez and dislike the DelRey - you could have stayed at any number that would have accomplished your goal, without the need and the expense of 2 hotel rooms.

Unless you are intoxicated I would say you can walk at night. A few years ago the walk down calle 9 from the HDR to ave central was a bit dicey. That problem seems to have been taken care of by the increased police presence. However, if you have doubts take a taxi the peace of mind it will give you is well worth the few bucks it will cost.
