Just after I made a good post about Sleep Inn, they raise their gringo fees from $25 to $35. Time to look for another hotel... |

Plus tax on that. I reserve for two on line and have my regular meet me at check in time and that solves that. Still the quietest hotel in the gulch, especially third floor center rooms facing the Colonial, and one of the newest and nicest. Very nice property, setting. Great free breakfast, free shuttle, if they miss getting you they pay for the cab. Secure parking lot. Wireless and free safes in the rooms (but bring your dsl cble--they want 12 bucks to rent one.) Small gym. Decent casino with sports book. |

Tough to serve 2 masters and tougher still to be a little pregnant, I get it. I knew about the price increase - I think I'll pass and stay somewhere I'm not judged via the imposing of a bullshit (and pretty steep ![]() |

Great idea to have your regular on the register, but, if you like a bit of variety as I do it could get expensive. I could easily be happy with one chica, but with the candy store next door it is too tempting not to sample the wares.

It's actually a "chica" fee. You have to pay it to take a guest back to your room. |

Hooking up with new ones is fun, but so is knowing for sure that you are getting something real nice with no chance of a real bad experience. |

As you know, beach towns in CR other than Jaco, which I don't care for, can be very loney places for beach lovers like me, and pretty non-pro's in small beach towns are a very tough catch for a gringo. |

Just curious, how does that work out for the Sleep Inn? Are they a busy place. I can see the Presidente because it is a little ways from the DR. But the Sleep Inn is in the middle of whore central. Would think your average eco-tourist might not frequent the area because of the proximity of the DR and KL. |

But the Sleep Inn is in the middle of whore central. Would think your average eco-tourist might not frequent the area because of the proximity of the DR and KL. I've stayed there app 15 times, never crowded, hard to say how full, but if the free breakfast area is any indicator, there are probably 20 or so tables and I've never seen them more than half full, never waited long for one of the two elevators, or for a bell boy or for help at the front desk. I've seen alot of people there obviously not there for the action, alot of older Euro's, a soccer team from Italy. Never had a problem getting a reservation but I usually plan way ahead. It's part of the Choice Hotels chain, one of eleven, all pretty well known in the US, (probably why they don't want the girls). Very aggressive marketing, alot of good discount programs often, eg stay 2 times next 2 months , next one free. It's at ground zero for sure, but the outdoor complex is huge, borders three streets, so you kind of feel oblivious that you are downtown. New construction/windows so you don't get the traffic noise, at least not 3rd floor south, nor from the hallways. That's the thing that keeps me coming back. Gated off at both entrances with 24 hour security. I'm sure one of the guest has wandered into the DR and wondered, but at lunch or dinner, you really wouldn't get the DR vibes at the eating area in the adjacent Colonial or KL. Nice place. |

I'm sure they find the monger business distasteful, but evidently they think they need the business. When they raise the chica fees though, that means they may start to feel they can survive and even attract more customers without it. $35 is pretty steep, but not as bad as the Holiday Inn - a few years ago they were charging $60 and by now who knows how much. |

Sleep Inn has great breakfast, nice rooms, secure lot, but fee is a problem. would a bit of CRT pressure bring them to their senses? i have no plans to return to any of the fine hotels after staying at HLH, although SL is great place. Sleep Inn could add a chica to the room at no charge and still not offer what HLH does in service. |

Probably not. Certain hotels are going for certain clientele and that is their prerogative. It is somewhat monger's faults for certain one's not being able to abstain from showing their asses so to speak and being spectacles. Always a few ruining it for all. |

I get so tired of the loud mouth braggarts. Have a good time, but be discrete and don't ruin our paradise here. |
