Don't know yea or nay but I sure hope this is true. I've met Calvin of the Tiquicia a couple of times and he's a progressive gent, a change agent. Here's the Hotel Tiquicia's Website: http://tiquiciahotel.com/ |

This place has a great location (right between SL & HLH) but I don't know anyone who has stayed there. I would like to hear a report. |

I just came back from my first trip to CR where I had the pleasure of staying at the Hemingway Inn. New management took over the place about a month ago and they seem to have already made a number of improvements. The staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. There was a great breakfast every morning with coffee, juice, eggs, and pancakes and I was told they will eventually have a restaurant for dinner. It's a quiet and discrete place that has a lot of charm but at the same time it was chica friendly with no fees or hassles. I also stayed at SL one night and in comparison that was a much louder active place that would be more suitable for a group of travelers. The location is great with NF being on the next block and HLH just down the street from that. The price was also right at $50 with tax for a good sized room with private bathroom. |

Tiquicia was more of a hostel anyway (said so right on the building). No big loss. ![]() |

No big loss. ![]() Not to take serious issue with HikerTom, but the Ho(s)tel Tiquicia did have a loyal customer base and sufficient walk-in traffic to stay in business so to some, it's loss or even devolving is a big deal. There's all kinds of Brothers so more intelligent choices from budget to palatial are the ideal, no? Envision this also--A Brother that for biz or personal reasons needs the Corobici or better but wants a GG sugar shack that's somewhat personal (not a love motel, in other words)--Tequicia would be perfect. Oh and 1 diagonal block from the HLH, for after hours pulls. |
