Since CRT is a forum to exchange information among members, here is what maybe my final review of the Dunn Inn. No vindictiveness is intended. Just sharing my personal experience on my last stay from 11-23 to 11-29:

Pros:

The rooms in the new section are excellent if you have the extra cash I highly recommend.
Many of the staff are very friendly and have become my friends
One of the Managers, Guy Grand is a great "guy" ,to play on words ,and has been a very good replacement for Boyd
The food is ok most of the time
Very nice decor

Cons

The Hotel seems to be going in a more Tico oriented direction. This is all my opinion and perception and I could be wrong of course, but that is how I see it.
The new General Manager John Gomez had several opportunities to introduce himself to me but never did. Strange business practice in my opinion.
Scottie V no longer there (not anyone's fault except for Scottie I was told)

Based on the above I have decided to try Boyd's place, the HLH. Boyd has always welcomed his guests at his properties and if not busy is always available to help with anything a guest may need. I took a tour of the new rooms at the HLH and they look great, the chicas are looking good and some of the deals and specials Boyd has going on is very tempting. I hope this has been informative to some of the membership.

That's

Here is my review for the same period.

My review of the quality of my stay at the DUNN INN:
I was given a standard queen at the discounted CRT rate of $62.00 per night minus taxes. The room is very small for a queen and there are windows covering the windows looking out on the hallway that let light in and do wake you up early. There are slats that cover the window that can be closed but appear to be inoperable.
• The maid forgot to leave washcloths on two occasions. The other towels are also worn.
• The hotel in general should insure that the guest has more than half a roll of TP at any given time. Running out of TP is nonstarter and the maids should be instructed to leave an extra roll.
• The sheets are thin, and threadbare, but clean and the pillows are of low quality; seem to be made of pieces of foam. The bedcover was stained and worn.
• Decent hot water everyday
• The free breakfast is not much; coffee, juice, ham and cheese, but you can augment it with other stuff from the menu
• Forget the room service; it seemed to be Mission Improbable to get something delivered to our room when still warm and eatable
• The Happy Hour; two for 1 from 5 to 7 of a limited number of items is a good deal.
• The in room minibar is well stocked and the prices are OK. Please don’t take this as a signal to raise the prices.
• The AC was quiet and cool.
• The front desk staff was courteous and efficient.
Regardless of any past history; good bad or indifferent, I find it to be a viable alternative to the other locations in the area.

I get very proactive if my first call to the front desk doesn't produce basics like TP and towels. I give them 15 minutes or so then I go hunting for a maid. I then either help myself to their supplies or I ask them to give me some if they are around.

I've done the same thing on cruise ships. Find a steward, follow them to the supply cabinet, then help myself.

I'm not happy if I have to go hunting, but it beats stewing in my room or going to the front desk to ask why it's taking so long.

sounds like the Nuevo Johnson has better service and similar rooms for only 10 to 15 dollars a night.
