Thanks Obama for the new $5.50 admission fee for Canadians entering the US by boat or air. I know that $5.50 won't break me but its just another myriad of taxes and surcharges that never seem to end.

Seeing how President Obama can not get anything enacted by the Congress can you explain how he got that $5.50 fee approved?

Thanks for the link. Many times things that the U.S. does that do not have much impact on its citizens but do effect its image abroad are never reported in the U.S. media so they are easily missed.

The reason is 1) it was tucked away in a much bigger bill and 2) it was not a new tax but the repeal of a loophole--previously,this tax was on all foreign travellers EXCEPT Canadians/ Mexicans--now it applies to them too. NOTE: This tax is not imposed on those who cross the border by motor vehicle.
