Uncle Joe: I stayed there 10yrs ago..so my info might not apply to today. I enjoyed staying at Europa. It is within walking distance (daytime) from DR and SL, and all points in between (HLH, NF, Muses, etc..). I don't remember ever having a problem bringing in a chica. I would usually invite them to have a drink in the bar first, then we would head up the elevator. No chica fee back then. Maybe one of the other bros has more current info. Have a good trip-CH

sorry uncle Joe that place sucks ......Back when I stayed at the morazan ..if they were full they would unload you there ....I stayed 2 nights .....think of a outdated motel 6 ....the area is pretty good for daytime things ....close to 6th street and central and a few other mp's .....and a few resturants ...no chica fee as far as I know .....no one really stays there (or posts about it ) I have found some working girls in the casino late .....as they run out of money in the slots and start looking around ...but you away from the DR, KL and sportmens ....and if its raining ....that trip in the taxi sucks .....many better places to pick

I was staying at the MORAZON a couple of years ago and since we had no water they sent me over to the EUROPA to shower. I showered with hot water in the rest room down by the swimming pool. It's similar to the ROYAL DUTCH

you guys are way to quick to jump on the "place sux and bail out " wagon. 1st of all every where else is sold out. So if that is in your mind the Europa is a fine place. It usually is for tourists from Panama . It has won many awards. It is very old but you will enjoy your stay. I will tell the poster this . If you have a problem see Jose Troyano the manager and say the delta guy said you can make this right. If that does not work PM me and I will refund your money. Enjoy the Europa and Costa Rica. Take Care, Uncle H.

hey herman, I didnt see where he posted which dates he was going (so how do you know "everything is sold out') and I based my info on my stay ....the room smelled (didnt report that since the everything in the room was so out dated ...bed ,bathroom and tv) if its cost near the $61 rate which I would think it is since that is the price for a morazan room ...the morazan room can make that price since where its at .....europa at best if it was $50 total price (tax included) have any value , Uncle Joe is new to san jose and I gave him my feelings of the place ....and why would you refund someone money ?

ChiliMike , I stand corrected . I was basing my wrong assumption that he was talking about Halloween weekend. I have stayed at Europa because the Morazan was full. It does have a pool. The fish in the restaurant was some of the best I have eaten in CR. I still think it is an OK place but if the Morazan was avail. it would be my 1st choice. Uncle H.

Herman ,,,sounds like you stayed at the europa the same why I did ....again I stayed only 2 nights and my info is dated .....just after myself having so many trips and I have stayed in many hotels ......freebird is the horse I am riding now due to the price and location ......a few years ago I stayed at the royal dutch as I was having a lillte luck pulling girls out of the club and casino .....sportmens will always be my first love ....as I enjoy the set up , and the wings that I will meet there ....but it comes with a price, 7 nights expect a tab over $ 700 and higher ....as when I am there ...putting girls drinks and meals are an everyday deal ........plus the $40 bucks I dump into the golf game  .....I wish bill would set up a wii game in the area before you hit that area where the workout room is ......when I was in granda a bar had the game set up and we would bowl and play golf while drinking all day .....

Hank, was that about 6 or 7 years ago around Memorial day weekend when the gulch got flooded and were out of power for 3 days at the Morazon? I went over and took a shower in one of the rooms and they were outdated but if that is all that is available it would work. I been to the casino a few time also it is OK. Remember the Morazon was giving everybody candles . I couldn't sleep because I thought someone would burn the place down. It rained so hard the roof on the 5th floor fell in. I have pictuers to prove it.

It was fourth of July 2008 No water at the MORAZON for 28 hours. ricky ricardo laughing at all the pissed off guests telling them the water will be on when it's on. DEl Rey had water. We had power and sometimes the elevator worked. Felt safer walking up the 5 floors to my room 501. I thought I'd get to shower in a room but no I had to use the pool area. Late at night the smoke was so thick in the lobby but once you walked up three floors it wasn't so bad. Staying at the MORAZON is a true experience of a totally dysfunctional hotel but I always had a good time

Was nice years ago and now it is just an old hotel. The AC units in the rooms are hit or miss. On the positive note, you can do way worse for sure.

Good location if you like to walk the outer parts of the CR area and look for a diamond in the rough at all the closely located local tico MP's and bars, which I love to do. Free breakfast, no tica fee for 1 girlfriend up to 2 hrs and be aware the wifi sucks big time if you bring a laptop. Can't get wifi in most of the rooms.

Have stayed everywhere (SL, Castillo, Europa, Best Western, Amistad, Presidente back in the days, Sleep Inn and a few others) at least once since 2005 and for my money HLH beats the crap out of them all, especially after Boyd gets the restaurant open.
