Gentlemen,

I just got off the phone with my wingman, and we agreed the TACA specials out of MIA for Halloween are too good to pass up. So it looks like I will be making my 8th trip to SJ for All Hallow's Eve weekend, and the party at the SL. I plan to call tommorow, as I usually stay at the Amistad but I'm sure it's booked. Can anyone with some intel tell me of some hotels that they think have availability ? Just looking for any suggestions.

Thanks as always !

Just saw your post... There is a place right next door to La Amistad.. same side of street..

I checked it out in August just in case for back up.. rates where cheap.. CRT discount and no Tica fees... Rooms not as big and the TV was only like 20".. did look clean in the room they showed me...

Since being CRT they probably have a ad here on the site too..

For the life of me I can't remember the name... Maybe some staying at the LaAmistad or Sportsman now can walk by for the name... I think they had a parking lot too..

Sultano: The name is Hotel Vesuvio. From what I remember, it is not highly reviewed.

If you like College Dormitory style rooms Vesuvio is for you...

I would check other options... Hotel Castillo would be one assuming SL, Amistad and HLH are all booked

I would not stay at the Vesuvio.

I'm at the Freebird as well. Reserved in early August. Arriving the eve of the parties and staying 9 days. First two and final two nights only queen room with common bathroom available. Remaining five days I'm In a suite which has private bath. First time staying at Freebird. Would like to hear others thoughts on staying here. I've read a couple of good reviews on here. Could have moved to Amistad starting Monday the 29th but hate changing hotels mid trip so I'm sticking with Freebird for the entire trip.

Checked out Freebird last year. The suite rooms were pretty nice. Only my opinion--but I would not want this location, for a vacation. If I could not get a room at SL,DI,HLH,LA or DR, I would probably try Castillo or Morazon. Morazon has a good location--$52 a night (breakfast and tax included) but would still be my last choice.

You know, I've always wondered this. I'm surprised someone in the general vicinity hasn't rented a big house or something with several bedrooms and tried to catch the spillover as this is a continual topic on the board. I imagine somebody smart could get their place paid for, choose when they wanted to have guests and then live in a much larger crib without paying the big price tag at other times. :D

A nightmare, drunk gringos in clown costumes, drama with the chicas, passed out chicas with giant chichones, major puke on the floors, trannies pissed off that the drunk gringos found their junk and won't pay them, and are you going to provide breakfast?
On second thought, sounds like a party not to be forgotten, count me in. :D

haha Priceless! And I hear ya. I wouldn't undertake it. A buddy who had a business in Jaco told me years ago to never have any business that catered to mongers. It was the worst headache you would ever encounter. :D

And gracias a Dios that Bill, Matt, Jeff and other buddies have the patience to deal with us, and hopefully make a profit too.
