my feelings are ....the internet has taken some of the girls out of the place .....they can make a date from web sites or guys grab a phone number from the last trip ....the girl knows what she is getting paid ....sometimes get dinner and this is without having to walk around in circles all night at the rey and take money out of pocket for taxi, drinks and the good chance of not getting picked ......

Trust me I want my cake and want to eat it to ....as I want the place packed like it was 6 years ago ....but I have met so many girls over the years going ....I have many numbers (some that even still work  ) I like going out on dates and not dealing with the rey and largo bullshit everynight.....like everything nothing stays the same.
Try getting away from the rey ,,,,there is a whole different san jose out there .....try finding non workers while walking during the day ....go to the clubs .....try the girls in the bakery .....tons of pu*sy outside of going to the delrey ....job 1 get a phone ....#2 learn a little spanish (mine sucks but I get by ) #3 eye contact ....if they dont look away ...its worth saying hello

Was there this past Thurs. thru Monday. I have to agree. Sportsmans was a little better but not by much. Besides the other impressions posted my view is that the decline may be due to some degree to the immigration crackdowns which are a front for prostitution stings. A lot of the Colombians (which make up the highest percentage of the best looking girls) probably overstayed their visas and the Ticas are afraid of the potential publicity if they are outed. I made an appointment via e-mail and telephone with Nicole(bubble butt tica with hazel eyes formerly of Zona Blue) who I have not seen working in over a year. She came to Sportsmans but went straight to my room because she is going to school and has a regular job so she didn't want anyone to recognize her. Went past Muses on Friday and a newscrew was outside doing a story with the police by their side. Such hypocrisy. Will post a detailed report and some photos soon. My ode to the Del Rey, "Baby come back". Bunda.

I don't feel that the quality of women at the Sportsmens has declined any. On busy nights, I always see a half dozen women I would hit in a heartbeat.

True and there were a couple of busy nights while I was staying there but a ratio of half a dozen beauties to a bar full of guys doesn't always work out in my favor. Maybe just bad timing on my part. I'll be back again in the near future, but in the meantime guys like me who aren't lucky enough to live down in the motherland appreciate the updates on the girls. Bunda.

I was just in San Jose two months ago, and have been visiting the Del Rey every two months consistently for the past 30 months without a significant drop in talent IMHO. Maybe the guys on here who say the Del Rey does not have any talent anymore go back more than three years. I have also heard the Beetle Bar in Jaco has been taking many of the San Jose girls away now since the foreign competition has been cut down by dear old Laura and her immigration policies.

I just returned from Medellin last week and other than going to Loutron the Del Rey had more attractive girls then all of the casa's I visited when adding all the girls together. Loutron was on a different level completely but was four times more expensive than the average MDE casa. Seriously, the girls in massage parlors in MDE were no hotter than what you are picking from at the Del Rey during the day shift. Granted the casa scene only costs about $25 compared to $100. The Mansion girls were better looking on average than the casa girls but still not the nines and tens like everyone claimed it would be prior to the trip. They were not as hot as the hottest girls from the Del Rey but close to the next tier of working girls at Key Largo or Blue Marlin. One point to note all of the Mansion girls I had sessions with were very GFE but I have had similar experiences with the girls from the Del Rey just not as guaranteed when it's the first time.

Having said that i did session with two of the hottest girls I have ever been with while I was in MDE last week. Both were on the high side of nine's. Very GFE and unbelievable!!!! They were referred to me by a fellow monger staying at Casa Blanche also. I owe that guy ten beers and a dinner for those two phone numbers!!!!!!! Thanks Juan!!!!!!

i was there 4x since december for dental and the del rey was slower than in days gone way by week nights, but week-end nights were ok. however, i haven't been now since june. if it's true that they are in a tail spin that they cannot pull out from, too bad for alot of guys who had a million good times there, with or without hooking up.

but my heart ain't broken for the owners or the re-hired current managment--she could be one of the reasons--they should have left her fired. customer service has been 7th on their agenda. they didn't need us for many years and so now maybe they'll get a clue and hire someone that appreciates us and tries. i haven't stayed there in 11 years after a blow up with the bitch about house keeping knocking on my door in the a.m. three days in a row despite the do not disturb door handle. besides, it was kind of dingy, and very, very loud.

my hunch is the bar action is not dead--it's just bad times for everyone. my recent flights on the sj leg have been .70 full as opposed to full, although a.m. costa rica this morning reported cr's tourist commission is saying numbers are up 10 per cent from this time last year. who knows for sure. my friends who have biz' in quepos ain't happy.

i am a gringo but i read, again in am costa rica, a few days ago that canadian tv was airing a documentary on the murders of canadians in cr. and did you see the thing today about the 7 guys dressed in police uni's doing a home invasion in the suburbs last night. same routine about a year ago. media was saying then if the police knock on your door don't answer. wow. so there's that, not that any other country in the isthmus is probably safer.

for those of us who are going to go to cr regardless of the pink palace, it ain't don't mean didley.

Alot has to do with the time of the year, we are in the slowest 2 months in CR. But yes, Del Rey has been going downhill, but so has the entire 'monger' scene in CR. This is not to say that you cannot find a hot girl at any given time however, cause you can. However most of the knockout girls tend to have the worst service. The level of good looking girls at the SL is overrated IMO. Maybe cheaper and better behaved due to the 'membership program', but I rarely see any real hot girls there, and I'm there quite a bit just to drop in and have a few coors lights. Good bar and good food however and the girls don't bother you, but alot of 5s to 7s at the very top end.

SL great place to go and get a beer and watch a game but rarely do the girls at SL top the charts above a 6 on the hot meter. I have never seen a 9 but maybe an 8 just once...lol. Some 7's at times but lots of 5's and 6's...lol.

"The past isn't what it used to be, and it never was."

In any kind of "scene", there's always someone who says "It was better last month/year/decade".

I'm just gonna smile and look forward to my first visit ever in January.

I don't have to land someone who's a 9 in looks to have a good time. I think service and attitude count a lot more than looks do, at least for me.

What matters to me is that the scene in the Gulch is legal, well-mapped-out, and as a result, safe for newbie mongers like me. I'd like to get some more experience before wandering off where the terrain isn't as well known.

And one thing that ROCKS is all the people here who are willing to put up with my inane newbie questions.
