Time to start planning my return visit (sure still over 4 months away)....this time around I'd like to spend 2-3 nights in Jaco.

Looking for recommendations for a hotel...would prefer

1. Tica friendly
2. Quiet
3. close to the action (but not right there)
4. Moderately priced

So basically I'm looking for La Amistad in Jaco :-} (and will be headed back to La Amistad for my San Jose portion of the trip)

Other question is about getting from San Jose to Jaco--rental? bus?

any input appreciated...

I like the Cocal Casino to stay. Chica friendly too. Sometimes girls in the casino. Interbus is the way to go. Or take an $80 flight on Sansa airlines.

Hotel Poseidon has done me well in the past. Solid.restuarant on site, a fair mix of mongers and civilians, and decent pool to hang by and recharge. I would say it is pretty similar to LA in SJ.

Here's a good recent discussion on this--don't be put off by the title, as most hotels are mentioned. After that, do a "Search"--lots of good info here, found that way:
