I will be going to San Jose around Halloween with some friends. We are thinking of staying in the Escazu area. Will the girls give us any trouble of wanting to go back to Escazu? Thanks in advance. |

it's 20 minute or so taxi ride at night back to the gulch--that's what's on their minds--if they are going to try and turn another trick. but if they are staying with you or going home from your place, won't much matter depending on where they live. may hit you up for taxi money. |

I've only had a problem once or twice in the 8 years I've been living here. During the "courting process" chicas always ask "Donde vive" and in the unlikely chance that going to Escazu is a problem, she will let you know here. |

Thanks in advance. Think real hard before you decide to stay there. Stayed there for years, in San Antonio de Escazu, up above the town of Escazu ( have stayed downtown for the last 7 years) - Why? Let me be blunt: *Escazu is geographically undesirable for the guy in for a few days, a week, who wants to be downtown *Because of the time involved - sure, late at night it might be a 20 min trip to down town; during times of traffic, its more likely 45 mins you will get resistance from some to even going there b/c of travel time *You lose a lot of negotiating room because of the time and trip regarding pricing *Vegas Bob is a permanent resident - his situation is not analyagous to a visitors Don't stay there if girls are a major part of what you are going to CR for - or if you think you are going to spend significant time downtown - Escazu, especially the part we were in (stayed @ Pico Blanco, one "mountain" over form the White House/Tara - you got a great view of it from there too ![]() |

Thanks for the info. Most of the girl activities will be at night, so we are not to worried about traffic. The trouble is that there are several of us and we have only been able to find houses or apartments for rent during the Halloween weekend in Escazu. We can find individual rooms in a couple of hotels, but since we do not see each other very often, we would prefer to stay in one place. If anybody knows of such a place to rent closer to downtown, let me know. |

I hear ya; its a popular time to visit ![]() Check w/ all the CRT hotel sponsors to see if rooms are available - you are better off downtown if girls are a (major) part of your plan - also, believe me - you are going to get resistance on their part to travel to Escazu, even in these diffficult economic times - also - put out a shout out to guys that know of condos; some have been advertised on CRT. Assume you have checked w/ La Amistad, Sportsmans, Hotel Little Havana - I hate to recommend the DelRey, but its a choice and has a large number of rooms. If you had to split the group w/in any of these places, it would not be the end of the world, but I know what you are saying - I'd prefer to stay all in one place too. Avoid the Holiday Inn and the Presidente, as well as the Best Western downtown. |
