Hi

I'm going to CR from Feb. 9th through the 15th and all the hotels close to the BM bar are booked (Del Rey, El Presidente and Morazon). Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay that is chica friendly and close to the BM bar?

Thanks in advance.

I'm in for one night, the 18th of Feb. and the Del Rey is booked.
Can anyone list the 5 or 6 next closest places that don't mind if a lady joins me back at the ranch. I know the Presidente has one room that night...but looking for other options as well. (Haven't contacted the Amon yet but for $120 + $20 guest fees, I was looking a little cheaper.)
Thanks.

Red Scare. Europa is not bad. Do not book on line. Call. You can get a decent room with Frig. for under $50.00 That includes tax and safe. The Men and woman ( some quite nice looking are BI-lig (speak English) Or go Tico and stay at the Working Girls Hotel of Choise; The Washington on Second Avenue. Only a 4 block walk from the Del Ray. I think a room with private bath is 3000 colones a night.

Redscare and Romulus (99 posts and still not a VIP member? shame on you),

If you read many of the recent threads in this section, not to mention one of the sticky threads at the very top you would know many other hotels besides the 3 first mentioned. How about Amon (only $75/nt including tax for VIPs), Hotel Castillo, Sportsman's Lodge (also discounted for VIP's), Gran Via, etc. etc.?

I don't know where Red got the $120+$20 figures for the Amon. If that's correct then he'd more than save the cost of CRT VIP membership in just one night at the Amon (and still be able to save even more at other places). At $75/nt including tax the Amon's CRT/Casino rate is only slightly more than the DR and for much nicer rooms and I've never heard about any $20 guest fee there (how much do they charge for chicas at the DR these days?).

Still don't want to pay the measly $37 even if only to help support this board and the information it has provided you? Okay, if you add that to the $75 you'll be back over $100 for the one night, but don't forget you can more than save the cost of membership on OTHER discounts. Forexample if you stay at Amon, I guarantee you'll end up ZB at least once or twice. Add a visit to a restaurant that offers a CRT VIP discount and you could still save a big chunk of your membership costs even forgetting the hotel costs in just that one day. Add more nights or figure savings on future visits and it is beyond me why any member here would not sign on as a VIP.

edit: DD, What is IVI? Tax included?

I am down here right now and was faced w/ the same problem. I normally stay at the Morazan but & the Pres were booked up.. I am staying at Hotel La gran Via, and it is not too bad. Runs about $40-45/night w/ a breakfast included. Make sure to get a room that faces the back, much more quiet. Rooms are marginally lower in quality than Morazan, but it definately gets the job done.

That is at the high end of the Gran Via rate schedule if you are staying for a week or longer and willing to pay cash up front you can negotiate a better rate. All rates are IVI and include breakfast & there is no chica fee. You can get a mini-fridge in your room at no extra cost and there is a market next store to pick up beverages & snacks.

anyone ever try the Hotel Washington on second avenue.

I've heard it's so chica friendly that some of the girls from Nicaragua and Columbia even stay there.

Now there is a thought, bounce from room to room and never leave the hotel.

It's on second Avenue

Prolijo...It's not a matter of the VIP fee. But since the VIP card is mailed, and I only recently discovered this board, it would do me no good. I leave in 4 days and am only in SJ one night. I support what you guys are doing, and have a feeling I will be memeber real soon...for a return trip.
Not sure where I got those rates for the Amon..thought I saw it somewhere.

Thanks for all the advice.

Where is the Amon hotel located? Is it walking distance to the Del Rey hotel or do you need a taxi to get there from the DR?

thanks

Romulus,

Don't get Remus'd !! The SL, the AMON, The Castillo and several others are 5 min walks to the gulch. All chica friendly with no extra fees! They all have websites and are posted here; just search. Sometimes there are cancellations so check immediamente! Do not panic , you will find a place if you try.
A couple of times this time of year I went down totally "wingin' it" and always managed. (Once at the DR & once @ the Morazan). Also in the extreme try a little "juice" if necessary; that always works wonders. If you really can't find a place for the first nite no matter what; the Holiday Inn always has rooms (cuz they suck in so many ways) but at least that gives you a day to get it right! 8)

PAX,
Sluthog

You can also fill out form and pay for your VIP membership at the Sportsmens Lodge.
