The route that I found is about 160miles and would take 5 hours. The route goes up to Orotino and up to Limonal. Is there a quicker route to drive from San Jose to Playa Junquillal? Thanks! |

...just returned from there. Nice, tranquil place with a turtle rescue center, black lava beaches, and some nearby camping. from Los Yoses (San Pedro) to there did not take me 5 hours. I drove the autopiso to Punteranus, from there north on Hwy 21 through Nicoya to Santa Cruz and so forth. A super green and beautiful drive this time of year. Have fun. Pura Vida EdB |

Autopiso to Punteranus, is it a toll road? And you did not need to take a ferry? Are the HWY 21 roads good also, it will be in November when we make the drive. Thanks EdB! |

just like you were driving to Jaco - there are four (4) toll stops of various prices I did not take the ferry I con't north - (23 to 1) I had a GPS that instructed where the hwy turnoff was.... drive and roads are excellent (flat) and great for passing the occasional trucker. The road into the beach is a dirt road btw have fun - pics are on the way.... Pura Vida EdB |

That is the quickest route! Driving there via San Ramon takes longer, taking the ferry would take much longer!Quote: Autopiso to Punteranus, is it a toll road?
