Well, after staying at the Hotel Morazan many times over the years, last week was the final time, unless the SL is booked. The elevator was not functioning for five days! It would not have been that bad, but I was staying on the fifth floor. Granted, I need the exercise, but I am not in the condition I was years ago. Ricardo offered us extra ham and eggs in the morning, and two free beers (BFD) for the inconvenience. They should have offered us a free nights stay. Also, I only averaged about four hours sleep maximum per night, for six nights, due to the taxi drivers in front of the hotel yelling all night long (3:00 and 4:00 in the morning!), and the motorcycles and other vehicles. I finally bought some earplugs, which did help a little bit. As an aside, Angie, the receptionist, no longer works there. Ricardo said that she married a Cuban, who doesn't want her working there (WTF?).

Tim

Before I moved here permanantly around 8 years ago,I used to stay at the Morazon on my many trips. The elevator was frequently screwed up back then also.

I enjoyed watching that fat shit Ricardo carrying 2 large bags up 5 flights of stairs.

Sounds like the company line. I have it on good authority that she, the manager and a bunch of other employees of the various properties "The Cuban" (Luis Milanes) owns were terminated for refusing to sign documents that he needed to present to the courts in connection with his proposed deal with the "investors" in Savings Unlimited to avoid criminal prosecution.,

The Morazon was out of water for 28 hours on my last and final stay there. also the elevator was out but only for a few hours a day. And at least 3 trips to the front desk for a remote control that works. :?

That sucks that Angie is no longer there. Other than location she was pretty much their only redeemable quality. I prefer to book certain rooms there (the quieter inside rooms on higher floors) and it seemed that the only way to get there and have my room actually be the one I booked was if I made the reservation with Angie. I don't stay there often and the best thing about when I do is that it makes me appreciate how great the customer service is at other hotels in the area.

when I walked in the morazan my first night in town ....the 2 things I spotted were a single was up to $61 and the casino was full of chain smoking asians ....every table but the 3 card was full of asians .....Pete you have been staying there for years ...they should be kissing your ass !!! the noise from the taxi never stops .....and they chased those 3 street girls off the corner (I have done 2 of them....one was good ...other just ok)

You tell me you get the Jr. suite and for that money you can get in the new wing at the sportmens ....which will improve your trip .....

My wing stayed a few nights at the freebird .....you got to check the place out ! all new beds and the rooms are set up very nice .....for the price could be the best deal out there !

Pete...thought you would thank me for my girl giving you a free handjob in KL

First time in 5 trips I seen you and Dave chasing pu*sy daily !! nice job ...other than your shitty room I think you had a good trip

As of Thursday noon still broken 36 stairs to 3rd floor. Managed to lose 1 pound. No discount on rate but still for some crazy reason love the place.

Actually, so do I - you can't beat the location, especially if you are parcial (sp??) to that part of town.

I've experienced the "joys" of a broken elevator there, too, as well as numerous remotes for the TV - seems to be part of the "experience"

In May, I paid $53/night including the safe (I think $61 was the "rack rate") - Mike, did you ask for a discount - they will not offer one unless you do - if you did and they told you no, that's a different story.

Re the noise; w/ the exception of a high floor years ago at the Holiday Inn (not an option today), noise - loud noise - is something you expect in San Jose - I don't care the hotel; if its in the central or in or near the gulch, you are going to get noise - what pisses me off is the car alarms.

PS I always enjoyed seeing those street girls too! One was cute - heard lots of stories how phucked up they are in many ways (who knows; you hear so much BS in CR; but if anyone really knows why the corner vs a bar, I'd like to hear it).....I guess they have to find another corner -

Well, I've stayed there about 20 times over the past dozen years, and noise was never as bad as it was last week. I did have a front corner room, but I've had rooms in front (junior suites) many times, and the noise was tolerable. I'm sick of Ricardo as well. One time last year he got a taxi for Buzzfla and myself about 7:00 one night, and the phucker wanted $6 to take us to the Dunn Inn!I will say one good thing about the place now...they have a very good lunch-time buffett weekdays for $6 or $7.

Hey Chilli, you don't have to be out everynite chasing pu*sy. She worked the day shift on the nites that I was out. I did her early and she went home so I went out.
