So I am here in Afghanistan, with time quickly winding down, and dreaming of taking a trip as soon as i get back to the USA. I am on my favorite travel site that has never let me down in getting awesome deals on flights when I see one pop up that I was not expecting; $261 rt to SJO from Chicago with all taxes included. Now, the airline that popped up was striking as I have not seen it posted in a long time: Mexicana Airlines

They declared bankruptcy a while ago and their site still has the "coming soon" message. I have seen articles saying that they will be operational soon, but nothing definitive.

My question is: Has anyone seen or heard anything new regarding Mexicana Airlines?

A translation of Mexicana web site just a few minutes ago

Does not seem that they have resumed service from what they have posted.

Roger, I looked at that too and called the number, but for the price that I saw and how expensive everyone else is, i got excited for a moment!

I've been using TACA from Chitown, airline from South America. good fares, good travel times, check in two bags free, get a good meal (not a snack) and drinks are free, one short stop-over in Salvador or Nica, very happy with them.

Recently flew TACA/Lacsa LAX>SJO via El Salvador and was pretty impressed they actually fed me each leg... yep, bags and drinks free.... old school love. Lots of hot chicas around too, blew US airlines away.
