Translation table with sample rooms (I may be off on a couple of these, so apologies in advance to TS): Standard Regular ($59 USD) = Paz / Amor Standard Large ($69 USD) = Esperanza (Courtyard wing) / Pura Vida (Clubhouse wing) Standar Deluxe ($89 USD) = Hermosa / Vista del Sol Junior Suite ($99 USD) = El Rey / Amante / Las Palmas Master Suite ($109 USD) = Presidente Suite Mansion Deluxe NEW! ($119 USD) = Leopardo / Zorro Mansion Suite NEW! ($129 USD) = Mono / Toro Negro Mansion Master Suite NEW! ($149 USD) = Leon Mansion Double Bed SuiteNEW! ($159 USD) = Oso Grande Penthouse Suite ($250 USD) = The PH suite in Modern win.g, 2 BR/party room/2 jacuzzis In my opinion, the value / comfort sweet spot = Modern Wing Jr. Suites. I also like the Presidente Suite - I think it's the best value in the house. Another great value - clubhouse rooms since they've been remodeled recently. In reality you can't go wrong at the SL with any room. Even the rooms right off the bar area are fine unless you're an light sleeper or planning on sleeping during the busy evening/night. My first time ever at the SL was in Paz, which is the smallest room and in the highest traffic location... and I was happy as one can be. ![]() If noise bothers you, or if you are the type who doesn't want everyone to see who's going into / out of your room, then I suggest Modern/Mansion or Clubhouse wings. CRT discount of 10% applies but there's a special right now; if you stay at least 4 nights I believe the discount goes to 20%. mh |

I'm really partial to the Leopardo out of all the rooms, as I have visited friends in most rooms. I have never personally seen the Penthouse. I'm a windows / outside view type guy, Leopardo fills that niche. Excellent post from you guys that took the time to list everything,...gracias.. ![]() |

Thanks Guys ! I stayed once on the room next to the computer with the interior window ,that was just rediculous except for the jacuzzi ,also I stayed in on of the old rooms the closest one to the reception maybe it was la paz? the name is ironic -not lol. I dont want to be uninformed again .Yes I am staying for 4 nights during the discount season so my crt card gets 20% off the room and the usual 10% off bartab. so anything with "standard" is one of the worse rooms right? so my best bet is Junior Suite ($99 USD) = El Rey / Amante / Las Palmas Master Suite ($109 USD) = Presidente Suite Im going with a buddy and the penthouse IS availible for $200 so we pay $100 each plkus tax but one bed is private and the other is a loft right? I justa want a nice quiet comfortable room around $75 after discount . Thanks for the help fellows . JG |

Presidente Suite is right next to the reception and has the living room with 2 sofas (one is a sofabed), and the ginormous bathroom with the large jacuzzi. Paz is the tiny room across from Presidente and it's the one with the interior window next to the computer, but it does NOT have a jacuzzi. The other interior room between the computer and the bathroom is Amor. No jacuzzi either. PH has a bedroom on the main floor and the other bedroom is a loft (but fully enclosed and private). Neither room has a private bathroom - the bathrooms is past the living room/kitchen on the main floor. I'd say the PH is your best bet if you're going with your buddy and you don't mind hearing each other's business (or sharing bathrooms). Lastly, "standard" rooms are typically off the Courtyard, but I wouldn't say they are all the "worst" rooms. For example, Esperanza is a courtyard room but recently remodeled and comfortable. Only issue is the noise factor. mh |

Go with any of the "Clubhouse" rooms for a really good deal on a nice quiet room. They are in the back past reception (many who have stayed at SL numerous times don't even know they exist). They are Fiesta, Alegria and Pura Vida (which has two beds I think). All were remodeled this year. Amistad is another fairly large and fairly quiet room (Bill used to live there). |

I like the club house You can slip a chica in there without walking though the gauntlet as well The Amistad room is nice... the crapper is in its space with the sink, and the shower is in its nook, handy at times ![]() |

I stayed in "Vista del Sol" (jr suite). Let's just say vista del sol is not what you want in the morning. The sunlight will pierce though the smallest hole in the curtains into your eye. It took me two mornings to finally fix it, but even then I kept getting woke up. One morning some woman was singing. The next morning a truck was idling with music playing. At night you can hear every conversation on the balcony at the bar like it was next to your ear. I didn't realize how corny you mongers are with the chicas! I don't mind the noise of the courtyard at night, but I want dead silence in the morning and no sun. I woke up early every morning in Vista Del Sol. |

I have silicon ear plugs (love these damn things!) and nothing wakes me up except trains, and there are no trains close enough to the SL for me to hear. There was some sunlight coming in early, but I have a sleep mask that keeps it midnight pitch black for me. I highly recommend a sleep mask and ear plugs if you are visiting or planning on living in Costa Rica. |

PacoLoco wrote: What are the best Modern Wing rooms? In descending order of personal MH preference: El Rey, Amante, Del Mar, Las Palmas... all cool. Then you have Vista del Sol, Mirador, Hermosa, Ilusion. Not my cup of tea, but they will do in a pinch. And of course the PH is in the Modern wing, but it's a whole different story. mh |

My 2 favorites are both in the Mansion Wing: Leon on the ground floor and Toro Negro upstairs. They're both on the pricier side but I like to live comfortably and even at $139 or $149 that's still a terrific deal in my opinion. |

PacoLoco wrote: What are the best Modern Wing rooms? I've only stayed in 1 of them & have been happy. "Amante", the very last room at the end of the hallway on the 2nd floor. Is very quiet, my most important quality, & is fairly roomy. The neg's are the aged carpet & the tricky upstep to the toilet & the shower. |
