One actually told me something similar last night, know it wasn't true a few weeks ago but I'll stop by there later and check.

Not surprising. They started to change their business model a few years ago and it seems now they are confident that taking the final step is not only in their best interest but what they have wanted for a number of years. Fortunately other venues have come on the scene so that their decision will not have the same impact as it would have had if they enacted the final phase 4 or 5 years ago.

Personally after a bad experience at the Presidente several years ago, multi priceing, three different quotes. Knocking on my door telling the chica she was persona non grata, I refuse even to eat in their over priced restaurant. To each his own, rumor had it several years ago they were trying to get away from the single males and chicas, then the bottom fell out of the U.S. economy along with rest of the world. So they held the line, still open to single male travellers. So the gossip goes .....since I will not stay there anymore, I still hear various rumors from some of the ex-pats who live in S.J. but I don't pay attention to it. this must be what, the 543rd time someone has claimed all chicas are banned from the Prez. I haven't stayed there lately, but it's still a great hotel, with a great staff, that has slightly restrictive policies when it comes to guests!

Its' a private business and can set its' own rules , but IMHO their Arbitrary, non-sensical, and it my past experience refuse to tell you why the girl in banned. Was for their B.S. dress code? was it for theft? was it for creating a scene being drunk ? Chances are it was for the subjective dress code? What is considered stylish night club wear here, is considered slut dress there? Perhaps some one should take pictures of some South Beach night clubs and the show the desk personnel.

check out their room rates...they are almost double the rates of other hotels that offer CRT discounts.....

and compared to tico style hotels...forget about it!...you can stay at a tico joint for a whole week what one night at the presidente costs you.


why would anyone want to pay way over 100 dollars a night (minimum) to stay in some place where they have to worry if they meet managements approval?
