Anyone have a recent report indicating whether chica friendly or not? Web site says this hotel in Barrio Amon has fans but no a.c. - seems to only be a minor factor. |

I'd call the Hotel Santo Tomas "Chica-tolerant" rather than "Chica-friendly"--they charge a Chica fee and are not CRT Sponsors. One good thing about the place (and there's lots nice about it) is that Harry's Bar Poas is right across the street. I like the room right off the pool area but YMMV as always. Also with its high ceilings a fan's all you need. |

I've following the Santo Tomas and confirm that they seem more, "tica-tolerant" rather than friendly. At times, they restricted ticas in the room, but with a slower market, they seem to go with the flow. I've seen guys go into with two or more at a time. A story from a few years ago direct from the source and confirmed by a business owner: a monger took a tica in, did the deed, and when she wanted $400, refused to pay. She wouldn't leave, so he appealed to the generente, who called the police. They arrived, said the guy owed her $400, and when he said he didn't have it on him, escorted him to the ATM for the funds Before I found a permanent apartment, I considered staying there for a day or two. Rates on the off season are very reasonable and is based on the size of the room you want. |
