Post subject:  san jose to Granada
Any body have any information on traveling from san jose to Granda. Bus , car or plane?
Any good hotels and where do the girls hang out?

i think big ben just came back with some good info .....the bus ride is cheap and long....if taking a flight ...not cheap and you still need to take a bus to Granda ...the place is small so very easy to check out the hotels .....

I had it on my list to do on my last trip but met a non working girl and forgot about going but I still want to do it ....my next trip is around july 18th if that works for you I would like to go for 2 nights ......I have talked to a few members about the place ...some love it ...others say ..waste of time ????? so my guess ..some where in the middle

Chili, how are you going to get there, what's your perception of the easiest/best way? I've only really heard of the bus ride, which seems really long.

Expect a long trip to Granada as the biggest wait can be at the border crossing. Also truck drivers have been staging, Huelgas there in the afternoon to protest: tourists getting preferential treatment and the crossings not being open 24/7. Recently a compromise was reached where it is supposed to stay open until midnight on Thursday-Saturday.

Bus lines are KingQuality, NicaBus, TicoBus, NicaTrans and something called Central Line. Much debate about whether it is faster to take a bus to the border, walk through the crossings (1 km) or ride a golf cart for a tip.

I've heard the best about King Quality in terms of ride, comfort, and ease. TicoBus is good, but folks complain about loud, Disney movies, icy a/c, or in one instance, no A/C at all and a hot, stifling ride.

Would like to spend a couple days in Grenada, I mean, why not, right? But it sounds like a bunch of work and I'd like to see some pictures of half decent girls. In the end, I'm not sure $10 sessions alone would be enough to get me to make the trip. It sounds like there's more quality in Jaco than even SJO at some points. If I'm going to make a trip, it might be there. Nonetheless, Granada does sound interesting... but the travel time is what, 12+ hours?

I have the lastest info for our adventure to Granada ....we leave at 3am from san jose so we get in around 10am / 11am which works great for me ,,,as we can sleep most of the way ......my talks with 2 members about what to expect puts it way ahead of Jaco .....(my jaco trip was one I like to forget)

The town looks and sounds very cool , the price for girls, hotel and food are dirt cheap and the side trips make for a fun 2 or 3 days.

My 2 days spent in Jaco were hotels that didnt want us there, to over priced girls and the hotel I did stayed in, I got hit for my camera and mp3 player with a guard from the hotel in on it.

For my 7 day trip , 4 nights in sanjose and 3 there may help in keeping the trip fresh as in the past when staying 7 nights in the gulch makes me think I have stayed to long by night 6.

I feel like it's like the first time going to sosua and not knowing what to expect ......and the look on my wings face when we both knew we hit the jackpot

Hey if it sucks ....we can cut it down to 2 days and we wont have much $ invested and its a trip report I can share with others

taking a road trip to Jaco has no comparison to a trip to Granada.

I just returned a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. Mis amigos cannot wait to return. For me. once was enough although it was cheap, fast, and enjoyable.

The big difference there IMHO compared to all other central american locations is that it has the look and feel of "country." Most of the girls (or woman) you will meet there are all coming in from the surrounding farms, mostly cattle. The Nicas that reside within the city are all about the same.

Granada is considered upper-middle class for Nicas so in a conversation with some of their educated, store-owning young ladies I came to the conclusion that the average CR chica is far more "worldly." :wink: :!: :idea:

Mis dos colones: Try and meet some of the local ex-pats that have been living there for years. Chances are extremely high that his Nica wife (or novia) knows each and every Nica in and around town. Just point one out to her and she might (can) do all of the intro's and negotiations for you - piece of cake ! Just be a little careful....after I got her rolling my hotel door had knocks on it all afternoon with more "intros" :wink: 8)

Enjoy Granada - then check out my personal favorite, San Juan del Sur.

I was in Nicaragua, Managua in March and it was quite hot compared to San Jose. A nice girl told me that July is the coolest month. If this is true, it may make your trip more enjoyable.

Yes, its very cool in July the average high is only 90 with a humidty. Just got back and the heat is exhausting. Stay somewhere with a pool.

well lets see where did I leave off .....my wing and I made a multi city flight (he is coming from boston , I am coming from tampa ) we are both on the same flight Miami to Mga ....kinda proud of myself getting those flights put together ,,,,anyway after I have pm a half dozen of members, talked with 2 guys on the phone (one that was just there for a full month) and the king .....who got the whole Granada thing started for me ....not saying any names as he isn't posting anymore (but has always been nothing shy of great guy returning every pm I have sent to him )

So our plan.....Mga is a tease for me since we are right there but we have our luggage and going into mp's with a few bags screams ...give us the gringo price ...better why don't you just double it :roll: .....

We could take the bus but its $18 each ...and a taxi is around $40 (if the price is $40 ) we will take the taxi since there is 2 of us .....we are 90% sure we are going to stay at the hotel bang bang stayed at, but one of the members told me about a place (restaurant) that has rooms that are nice behind it for $20 a night ....so I want to at least check out the rooms , and if history will repeat itself my guess this restaurant owner will have info on the girls and the on goings I might not get if not staying with him....

The und***ge stories do concern me ...as most guys do say ...be careful as they (nicas) view as ok ....we don't and we wont ....so my wing has a good spanish game and myself armed with my spanglish ....we should be able to play with 18 year olds and up ....

Getting to san jose , we have no schedule other than the non working girl I met on my last trip expects me on the 20th ...we should make that with no problem ......

I will take photos and give a good report on what I find ...that multi trip flight was only a few dollars more then my reg flight , and I booked late (17 days ) so not bad and the cost of a day in Granada vs San Jose ...well not sure yet ....but just on food and hotel looks like at least $80 perday ( no gambling in Granada so that takes the normal $300 I budget per day in san jose out,I know sounds sick but if you gamble you don't win everyday and you don't lose everyday either , on a 6 days trip if its a losing trip maybe $1000 for the trip but that's being in action everyday ...on that same note I have come back from trips with more money than I took )
