Post subject:  Has anybody stayed at Intercontinental in Escazu or Marriott

Just wondering if anybody has any knowledge if they will let ticas in at all and at what fee? I understand that the best places to stay are in the gulch such as SL, HLH etc... but my party wants to stay at either of these hotels due to the pool and "nicer rooms" and it is out of my hands. I have reservations in the SL also as a backup plan for myself, but I would like to hear peoples past experiences with those two hotels in particular if you have any. We do not mind having to pay a tica fee and transportation for them to get back to the gulch, but just dont want to be told no.

FYI I am talking about the Marriott (700 meters west from Bridgestone/Firestone), not the Residence Inn or Courtyard Marriott. Intercontinental is the one is Escazu

The marriott is very far from the action.
And is known to prohibit chicas.
8yrs ago they told me this upon checkin
They alowed me to cancel my res with no penalty
If your going to have fun stick with the advice on this website
If your trying to mix business with pleasure good luck

As a follow-up to this question, which are the best hotels in downtown SJO right now that are chica-friendly (or at least chica-neutral) but not de facto monger clubs?

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn several times, but I'm not sure if it's still chica-friendly. (Anyone know?) I like to stay at good hotels that are chica-friendly but aren't widely known for being monger-friendly (e.g., HDR, etc.). Thanks.

Hotel Presidente, which a few years back (its been that long) was a preferred place to stay for many. Now it can be described as you said, "chica neutral." You can stay there without being pegged as a monger, and as far as I know, there is still no chica fee. There are two issues: 1) she cannot have blatantly slutty clothes 2) they have a large list of banned chicas (supposedly). The last time I stayed there was a year and a half again, and really enjoyed my stay. I love the Junior Suites with Jacuzzi in the bathroom.

Sorry not the most current info. It is a good place when one must mix business and pleasure. The La Amistad also is a place that gets a great deal of non mongering business, and comes up pretty normal on the web, and is most certainly chica friendly. The nicer rooms are really quite nice, and reasonably priced.

They are chica-friendly, but they charge a $70 guest fee. That's not a typo.

presidente not neutral anymore
zero chicas unless she hasn't been there before

once she goes there, then they can put here on the list and say she is on the list
for some reason.....

new policy about 6 weeks ago implemented

ok scuba

presidente doesn't want one more prostitute in the hotel or restaurant

is that more clear?

but they disguise it by saying girl on the bad list with 5600 others

now if the girl has never been there ever they will let her accompany you and then put her on the list, then when she tries to go again with another guy they will say she is on the list
and only the security mgr knows why. They have been graduating to this and went full tilt
about about 6-8 weeks ago this new year. They won't tell you before you show up their new policy.

So don't plan on bringing even one chica there that has ever been with another guy

I asked them point blank if i can still bring a guest and they said "yes" to my face on my recent trip, technically the truth, but the girl at counter had to ask her co-worker before answering
as in the spirit of the law they were deceptive and not revealing there new true policy;
but you can bring family members or a nun (no offense)to have dinner.

Now men get used to doing the same thing (creatures of habit)so once you show up it is harder to check out once you have all your stuff unpacked so they might get couple days out of you; so if you want to bring a girl that has registered with another guy as guest before- your forwarned to stay in motion to get another hotel. If budget not object sleep inn you can get corporate or internet rate and just pay guest fee.

so the girl could have never done anything wrong ever but as of last week they still will game the guest and sit there and argue some b.s. why she can't come in.

After the staff will laugh when guest leaves that they just blew all this smoke in their face.
The staff would probably like to be clear, but these are their instructions so they are juggling between the mgt and guest.
Hotel mgt. feels it is better just to play this game and argue for 30 mins then to just tell the clear truth instead of making up all kinds of reasons why she is on the list when they know all the time

I wanted just to be kinda subtle which is why i didn't get super clear above but i guess it means something to you or you wouldn't ask so i told you.

Just a lot of drama there now in the atmosphere. I'm not bashing them as they are entitled to do as they please which i why i didn't post this as a seperate article dig on them, but just want to give a head's up to the directions in the road for the traveler;

for what was a limited access road is now a bicycle built for one road :)

It is nice to have option to bring a guest and be in comfortable clean place so i wish you the best in finding something and i'm sure you'll land on your feet like many others

Stick with the Intercontinental. You'll be fine. You will likely not even have to pay chica fee if you play your cards right like some have mentioned above.

I would really appreciate hearing factual information from anyone who has stayed here within the last 6 months.

It is unacceptable for me to bring a girl back and be questioned, let alone denied access to my own $250 room. I figured the Intercontinental was large enough that we will be lost in the crowd.

I'm sure I could talk my way into whatever I have to and I will not be bringing back a slutty looking wench but I don't want to worry about this. Any recent experiences?

The funny thing is that you can spot high end ******* in the lobby bar at the intercontinental from time to time.
