I've been to Costa Rica about 10 or 15 times but I've never been to Colombia. I'll probably have time for a quick 5-day vacation in late April and would welcome feedback before I decide between SJO and somewhere in Colombia. I'm leaning toward Costa Rica simply because I know it and don't want to risk having a 5-day trip to Colombia turn into a flop.

Also, anyone have any good recommendations for finding discounted intra-Latin America flights? It seems like prices are real high now, and I'm a newb when it comes to booking flights between Latin countries. Thanks.

EDIT -- I don't know how the hell I managed to post this in the wrong section, but obviously I did. My apologies.

Hmm. You know Costa Rica and since you posted I imagine you want to try Colombia. If you stay at the Casa Blanca one or two in Medellin , I cant imagine you having a flop in Colombia. Or I believe Goodtogo on this board rents his spare bedroom in his apartment sometimes, that may work as well.

So if you want to stick with a known entity, then its SJO. If you want to see some of the most beautiful women in the world, try MDE.

Are you planning on coming during Semana Santa

Thanks for the reply. I'd definitely like to check out Colombia, I'm just afraid that the learning curve will be more than a couple days, which would significantly cut into my quickie 5-day trip. I might end up going to C.R. (or Panama) and then try for Colombia later in the year.
