Hey CRT Brothers; Had an awsome time once again. Recently back from a 2 week trip in which I tried out a couple of new spots(new to me anyway), and found a great one, the Freebird. The rooms(particularly the luxury suites) have everything you need, tastefully done(if that matters to you), but more importantly, what I found to be an excellent location. You have 3 MPs just south of you down the street, and the Del Rey a couple of blocks north. Need I say more, and I will, Avenida Central is steps away, there is a grocery store and pharmacy right around the corner(for those necessities), as well as being surrounded by restaurants that cater to all budgets. On top of that, Dennis the owner, whose always happy to share his knowledge to enquiring minds, has rates that can't be beat. Highly recommended.

I`ve stayed at other hotels but the Freebird has them beat hands down. I`ve stayed there my last two trips and it is now my hotel of choice. BTW my trips were 10 days and 12 days, my next will be 14 days.

if you don't care about the extreme street/car/bus/cycle noise from Ave 2 20 meters away, the barking dog, the meowing cat, all of this all night, the worst being able to hear every word (and every thrust) of the occupants in the next room. Noisiest place in the gulch, bar none.

That defies logic or somebody else is putting you up to this as a possibility. The place is LOUD beyond the gulch hotels noise because it is not a hotel, its ground floor, maybe a former tico house, right off ave 2, tin roof, with rooms that can combine 2 rooms into one, you can hear everytrhing from the adjoing room of course, it's only a door, everyting, it's loud. If this poster didn't hear any of the above he was smashed. It's a good place, but it's loud. If that doesn' biother you. This post is so that members know you are not checking into a hotel, more like a hostel/backpack, with good value, great owner, no chica fees. If U can deal with all the loud noise maybe with earplugs at night, this is truly a great place.

I've stayed in much noisier rooms in the Gulch and these were some of the more popular hotels. I got put in a room ( after I insisted not to book me unless construction was completed) where they started hammering ,sawing and banging from 7:00am until 9:00pm. I don't stay there anymore.

Have stayed at many of our other CRT Sponsors. Each has a very different vibe and service. The place is great for the price and location. I believe it is also on the street that is to be blocked off and become the New China Town. Can only imagine what that will be like.

Never stayed there...I think the rooms don't have a/c, is that right? Has that changed?

Never mind, just checked their site & the answer is no a/c.

You really don't need AC there, the ceiling fans keep the room cool.
