If anyone is still going to CR from the West Coast??? Please chime in on this thread. the latest prices are out of site. I have traveled Seattle to SJO 24 round trips on Continental Airlines in the last 11 years. I have nothing bad to say about them except that prices have gone crazy. I am starting to plan a trip in late April and will check prices every day. If any good prices come up I will post them. I hope others will.
I believe members from other areas should start a tread from their area. We should restart the tread every few months to keep the prices current. We should include the airline name and and fare after taxes. Right now Continental's lowest fare from Seattle to SJO is $846 in April.

Seahawk, you have my sympathies. I travel from the Midwest, and the current farea have increased from $300 last July to #480 current. I did not pay more than $310 last year. And if you are from Seattle, I simpathize with you, because you don't seem to get a break. I've flown Frontier and booked a $310Rt from my hometown. Enjoyed it. It was the first time I slept 3+ hours on a redeye. Very festive.

Suggestions: kayak.com SmarterTravel.com gives current sales blastss via email. Use the Expedia, Travelocity, Check the awards travel of airlines you have frquented. Perhaps you cualify for awards travel.. It's a complex mess out there.

Thank you David. Six of my 24 trips were one pass bonus miles, Thanks to Continental and perks from Chase Master Cards.
I WILL PUT THE TWO SITES IN MY FAVORITES AND GO TO WORK

paid 480 out of LA on taca for next week. had to watch and track it everyday to get that on nonstop both ways. not easy but it can be done if you are persistent and flexible on your dates.
the one stop is still that price on travelocity

I got a 550 fare a few months ago from SFO to SJ. I t went down further to 450 after that, but I wasn't able to take advantage because of the 100 fare change charge. It was the Frontier red eye connection through Denver. Noy a bad connection either. Less than a two hour wait on the way down and gives me an extra day of vacation amd I'm there by 6:30 am!! More layover time returning.

I guess if you get a southwest special to SFO or lax, you could maybe use it to maybe get a cheaper fare.

I feel your pain, man. I live in the NW and the airfares are out of sight. Right now Frontier has the lowest fare, < $600. The problem that I have with that flight is that it arrives at SJO at ~ 0600 and the duty free is not open!!! And then the return flight leaves at ~0700. Too early for me!!!

Crap, a couple of years ago I could track fares at work and snag a $350 R/T for a long weekend in CR. As long as the oil companies are getting $80 and up for a barrel we will not see those fares again. The ba*tards are making BILLIONS in profits every year and we are STILL subsidising their exploration and drilling! :x

If you can use Southwest to get to a hub you might be able to fare better, but still not cheap. US Air flies direct from Phoenix, AA Direct from Dallas, Houston will also have directs. My cheapest has been 582.00 with taxes last year was 626.00.

In San Diego the high season prices have been hanging around $700 and up. Did snag a $550 for late April already. No too much you can do when business is booming. Continental is running 7 flights a day right now.

SR

Srilm, You say Continental has 7 flights a day? Where do the flights go? I am sure none go to SJO, out of San Diego.

I'm sure he means 7 flights a day to Houston, which is the Continental connection hub to SJO for all us west-coasters.
