Hey folks, long time no post, that is what having a gf will do to me. Yet, the urge to pay a visit to CR for an extended weekend is tempting. I guess some can relate to this. Anyway, a question ... how to best travel stealth? Pay cash where possible, use magic jack to imitate your phone number when calling, have a good excuse ... but what about passport entry/exit stamps? Is there anyway to work around those? Let me know if possible. Thanks guys and happy holidays to all. -bbm72 |

Be aware that the Alibi Network is kinda pricey but if the bucks and the need is there--well, a monger's gotta do what a monger's gotta do. Don't know if even they can help you with the passport thing though. |

Too bad Costa Rica doesn't do like Cuba does. Cuban immigration stamps a piece of paper and not your passport. They like the tourist dollars so they don't want to get any American tourists in trouble that may be traveling to Cuba via Canada (or other friendly Country) . You can always "accidentally" damage your passport as soon as you get home. Not sure how long it takes for you, but I got my replacement passport in 6 days. I could have got it in 3 if I paid more. |

I have a similar situation to yours. I attended a large university out of the current state that i live in. This sets me up for yearly "guy trips" to see friends from college that are spread out across the country. With the relatively cheap cost of airfare, accommodations, and entertainment it is easy for me to use the reasoning that CR is a much cheaper and enjoyable alternative to say Las Vegas. Sometimes i actually make the trip with friends sometimes solo. The less you try to hide and the more honest and nonchalant you make it the less it will set off her bullshit radar. Good luck. |

I've come home with four pictures each of fishing in CR and in Panama. While married and now with serious GF, neither woman asked how many fish I caught or any details. Now I just go to fish and don't bother with photos. No questions asked. |

The old way to eliminate Israeli visa stamps from a passport prior to entering Arab countries involved asking for a rear page stamp, then razor blade the entire page out after leaving. This may not fly now with the new passports and hyper-vigilant customs scrutiny. Maybe losing your passport on the way home from the airport is the best way to avoid anyone knowing where you visited! |

I wouldn't recommend tearing or cutting pages out. A passport with a page missing is considered mutilated and invalid. If somebody actually notices it, you will be denied boarding and will have to go to the US embassy and get a replacement. |

Just lock your passport in a safe or your car, its reasonable to lock it up lots of people do....also you can get a second passport if you can justify it for business traveling and sending it to get visas for china etc, or if you go to greece and then turkey etc you can get a second passport |

Lots of countries can deny you entry if you've been with their sworn enemies recently--the Saudis I believe can get stiff-necked about recent Israeli stampings, for example. |

If the alibi thing is too expensive, do the obvious. Open a checking account at a bank that will give you an ATM card with the Mastercard or Visa logo on it. Whenever you pay with it, the money will come directly out of your checking account so you will not get a bill from any of the CC companies. Tell the bank you want to go paperless so get all of your bank statements on line. Cash is also an option, I use my ATM. As far as the passport problem,I wanted to make sure my spouse didn't see the CR immigration marks so I destroyed my passport by running it through the washing machine. A new one cost a little over $100.00 and there is no problem an you have to send the destroyed passport along with the new PP application. Of course, tbis is probably a one time deal as even a stupid wife might get suspicious if you keep getting a new PP. |
