I've tried 14 ways from Sunday to book from IAH to SJO on Cuntinental and the fare in cattle class always comes out to $655... Doesn't matter if I book a month ahead or 2 days... I've heard of others finding lower rates, but for the life of me I can't find the better deals...

I agree with the rates... If we flew from Atlanta, Miami, Lauderdale or Phoenix, the fare would be about half... It's because Cuntinental has the ONLY direct flight to SJO from IAH... It sucks to be sure, but I doubt any amount of righteous indignation will have any effect on pricing as all flights are full these days...

You can get daily alerts from www.kayak.com which may help. As I fly from up north and connect through hubs, I've noticed that most of the time I pay less than if I were flying from the hub to San Jose. Once my fare was 1/2 the price from Charlotte on US Air, even though there were only two seats left.

Talked with one guy who connect from up north through IAH to SJO on Cuntinental... He paid something like $325 round trip, yet if you originate in IAH, you get screwed...

I mostly use www.bookingbuddy.com, which is an aggregator like Kayak... I have used Kayak in the past, but found better pricing through BookingBuddy...

Yup, as has been mentioned before, direct flights from an airline's hub airport to SJO are usually much higher than flights originating elsewhere and connecting in the hub.

I was in Charlotte visiting a friend and booked a last minute flight to meet some buddies from Florida in CR. We all flew AA, I paid 199.00 RT with the connection in MIA where they left from and they paid 399.00 RT. I just had a carry on and got back to MIA drove with them back to Fort Myers. I've heard this happens a lot with pricing.

The flight is always $318 for coach, it's the additional $345 in taxes and fees where they jack you up...

Flying from San Antonio to Houston to San José for $667.00 round trip-bought ticket on Nov. 9. CO flights are always on time and a breeze to SJO-never had a real problem in my previous 3 trips.

Do they jack up the prices on American flights to SJO around New years? Air Canada is like charging $700-800 dollars one way on New Years day when their normal rate is around $248. Which is BS when half the seats are still unsold. I'm coming down to SJO on Jan 01st and I am using my airline discount on the trip down ($125 all in) but I am full fare going home since I can't afford to be bumped off that flight. ($420'ish one way)

Went down to 433 round trip from OKC....boo ya. I heard the best time to book is Wed after midnight...I guess that is when the airlines reset vacant seats?

Well Kinda
I was lied to my last trip with them I bought and paid for my nephew to come along on the vacation, I specifically asked if I got the miles for him and was told yes. You know the rest of the story no I didn't get the miles and no way to prove the bitch on the phone said what she said so yes I am not using them.

So different reason but same result they lost me.
