OK, at least this one is at least a little different from the usual "what hotels are chica friendly..." ![]() I did "RTFF" but I couldn't keep track of all the reports versus my requirements, so I hope a few experienced mongers encyclopedic knowledge can just offer a couple choices. So here is the challange: I'm looking for a place that is / has: a comfortable bed not too noisy (no trains going by like one place I know of...) chica friendly with no or at least low chica fees is relatively clean and modern has room safes (preferably electronic) and preferably not solely an infamous monger hotel- a place where if you tell some one you stayed there they don't instantly assume (know!) what you came to San Jose for (like they would if you tell them you stayed at HDR or SL). I don't need or even want a large room, would like to pay $50-70 a night, will stay 3-4 nights total around the second week of November. I plan to take cabs so it's OK if it isn't directly in the middle of the gulch. My stay will probably be broken up by a night or 2 at a beach or volcano. If I like the place well enough and the price is right, I might just book the whole block of time and just not sleep there a couple of the nights. Wad yall think? |

OK guys, thanks for the info. That was about what I came up with through my searching, but just wanted to make sure there wasn't an obvious place I missed. No, I don't even know "BkTuna." I presume he is the owner or manager of the DI? Maybe I should hit him up for a discount or at least chica commendation when I check in ![]() Since I don't know for sure when I will be there (doing some other stuff in CR first / during my stay), do you think I would be safe in just showing up and getting a room a day or 2 at a time? Or is the place pretty much booked. I'm planning for the first part of November. |

Two things: (1) staunch Dunn Inn loyalist though I am, I'd be remiss in not mentioning 3 other hotel choices, all CRT Sponsors--Hotel Inca Real, Hotel Castillo, and Hotel Hemingway. Of these I can recommend only the Castillo; (2) Brother BKTuna is the Sales and Marketing Director of the DI, our CRT interface, and a fount of info. Just showing up and expecting a hotel room might work in the slow (rainy) season but if you do that, have a back-up venue in mind. Any other times, strongly advise booking in advance, and for Monger "holidays" (SuperBowl, Labor Day), you will be shut out with that tactic. When you get to the DI, ask for him, yes, but showing your CRT card to the front desk will get you the CRT discount--Brother BKTuna (Boyd) can't get you extra and doubt he'll advise on particular Chicas either. OTOH, ask him for the tour of the new casino/bar/sportsbook next door--it's all his and is a wonder to behold. A side note: most hotels if you stay there a night or two with plans to return to them, will securely hold your major luggage while you voyage elsewhere incountry. |

DUNN INN is the only one of these with a comfortable bed |
