I have a friend in CR right now and stopped by both and I am getting different prices from phone and text from him. My friend was quoted 5 nights at La amistadt 60 night incl tax, Dunn 54 a night including tax 5th night free. When i called Dunn she had a different rate of 326.69. Not sure whats up, anyone live there that can help me figure out whats accurate?

Not sure about the pricing, but you can't go wrong at either place.

Not sure what they were quoting but if you a CRT member you can either choose their standard discount off the rack rate of the special of paying the rack rate for 4 nights and getting the 5th free. Its a good deal at a nice venue.

The Castillo has an even better deal. I was paying something in the $30's per night. Nice older hotel with a cool vibe.

If you like flat screen TV's and top notch mattresss the Dunn Inn or La Amistad is the place.

I grabbed this from a post BK made

Rack rate Deluxe Queen is $59 pre-tax (4 x $59) = $236 for a five night stay with one free

tax = 13% so, 236 X 1.13 = 266.68 which is $53.34 per night

Can't believe I beat Jazzbo to this. :D

Both places are nice. The Amistad is closer to SL. Both have good food too.

Hey Brother Dean, even pimps and shameless shills take naps sometimes.
Seriously if anybody is the least confused about the Dunn Inn's pricing, a PM to Brother BKTuna will clear it all up, although it may take til the next day to get the answer.
BTW, this shows the virtue of booking the SL on a long-timeline, and when the Dunn Inn SuperVenue opens, one's gonna be needed there (a 32-room hotel that's 80-90% CRT with Big Fun next door? Oh yeah.)

+1

Both are excellent spots.
IMO
The Dunn in has a better social atmosphere with the happy hour and live music.
La amistad is within shouting distance of the SL, is a bit more tranquil and has slightly better rooms and layout.
You cant go wrong with either. :D

The Dunn Inn Shameless Shill here--but let's re-visit this Thread, this Topic when the new casino/bar at the Dunn Inn is open. That will be a serious game-changer. Brother Srilm's remarks will still be true, only more so.

  yea, but it has seriously ruined for us eco-mongers   I guess since Sportsmans, Amistadt, and now Dunn Inn, have a "bad" rap, ie monger hotel, where are guys like me supposed to go :?: :?: Probably back to the Presidente :)

LH has a point
I have stayed at the Dunn Inn may times dating back to 2005
I have met alot of ex-pats there, that come to San Jose to for all kinds of reasons
All kinds of interesting people... not sure how the new "place" will impact the long time guest of the Dunn Inn
I am all for the addition , but have a hunch the Muy Tranquilo may exit the building with the grand opening
If the old with the new can mingle great
Or I may be living in the past... keep up or close?

The existing bar and restaurant will stay the same. The expats are still coming and happy about the changes. Most of them live in beach communities and come to town for business and girsl/drinking/gambling. Our eco tourist business is way down due to the general lack of eco tourists everywhere.

The deal as I understand it is the 2 spheres will be mostly separated with only a discreet passageway between the hotel and the new venue. There will doubtless be more Brothers treating their dates to a meal, but I predict minimal interaction between the 2 or 3 tourist types, not least because we and they keep such different hours. Ain't gonna be the same atmosphere as an all-in-one frat house venue like the SL.
