Been pricing my next trip in Jan to MDE, found to book as one trip is way more then to book the two legs of my trip separate, for the best combination , almost double depending when I look. MSP-MIA then MIA-MDE. Avianca always had a ticket for $280 for the MIA-MDE no matter when I looked to matter what day I wanted, no big deal. Why buy now, looked Wed night Delta went to $280 no big deal. Thursday looked at the MSP-MIA, priced drop $375 to $ 228 ( 25% off) turned out to be a one day price BUY NOW—one leg set up Go look at Avianca, price jumped to $330, what, I will wait till next week for it to come down and I also get on the other side of my CC cut off date to pay . Thought overnight , changed my mind about it so early Friday went to just buy it, still great flights, great price for total . Price jumped for $330 to $510 for the leg I want!!!!!! WTF—played with dates and all days around when I want to go ( the flights I want) are up. Few days after I get back they go down to $250 or so, DAM DAM DAM. Kicking my self I knew what a good price was and tried to save a few more bucks and it is going to bit me in the rear end I am afraid. Now I got to tell myself not to panic and pay the high price and see what happens/ If nothing else I get to town at 10-11pm instead of 6pm. AA is still a option at this time, but has a bad MDE leave time on return If You got fixed dates and know what a good price is do not wait when a good price come up I have searches set on a couple of travel sites and they missed all the price changes. |

Have patience. You dont go til January. You have plenty of time. Start checking Tuesday thru Thursdays into the wee hours even (as purchasing days, not necessarily as travel days). The prices go lower during those days and nights for some reason. |

You think that's bad? ![]() I had to rebook them on AA. Those Mexicana cocksuckers only refunded me 1/2 the fare ($480) since they took the outbound flight. It cost me $1533 for 3 one-way tickets on AA. So in total, the 3 tix cost me about $2000. ![]() |

When you see a bargain grab it. And it looks like there will be fewer bargains in the months ahead..... http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/05/business/05air.html?_r=1&hp |

since I was on my way here I checked again today, and its was 303 at noon on Sunday so i bought it asap, got to even select my seat, last one on the plane( at east in coach) most they must have wanted to close out the flight... Ok then I do not know why I went to ITA flight search , and now as of today AA added anther new flight not listed before for just $285--11:30 leave MDE, so could party hard night before) they never listed those times fort a flight before for going or coming back... can't win, but I am in MSP-MIA for 5:35 can't complain |

Hello all, I didnt know if I should start a new thread or what with this. If you have a good idea where it should go to help others please cut n paste it. I am not going,but..., I noticed that Cheapair.com returned a rate for Spirit Airlines ATL roundtrip to MDE on Oct 9 - Oct 17th (and probably other dates) of $303 plus $10 to process, including all taxes Thought it was a good deal. RM Other than the fact that it's on Spirit Airlines, it sounds good. |

I have always been fascinated by the airline industry. Robert Crandall (former CEO of American Airlines) once said... the quickest way to become a millionaire is to start with a billion dollars and then start an airline. Given the past history and failures of most airlines one would wonder why any intelligent businessman would get involved with this industry. Do airlines fail because of poor management or is the problem a simple matter of not enough income to cover the operating costs. Most would agree that costs go up and service declines when unions are involved as opposed to a privately run business. Of course income really means ticket prices which most feel are too high already. Lets look at 2 different scenarios. Passenger 1 is a business man who is retuning home with only a laptop. He chooses not to have the complimentary meal that is offered on the flight. Passenger 2 is on vacation to Mexico and is on the flight to connect to his holiday destination. He has decided to bring all of his worldly possessions in several suitcases and carry-on's. He takes the complimentary meal but after one bite decides its tastes bad and it ends up in the garbage. How many still think that both passengers should pay the same ticket price? Perhaps a model where the ticket prices are fixed and you pay for the extras would work. If 2 guys go to a football game and sit in the same row they pay the same price for the seat. One guy may just watch the game and the other guy may have several beers and food which he will be charged for. Neither guy is forced to pay for goods or services that they don't want or use. Before deregulation in 1978 only the wealthy could afford to fly. Perhaps the harsh reality is that air travel was never intended for the common man. In the meantime I am happy that someone is willing to lose millions of dollars running an airline so that I can afford to buy a ticket. |
