Anyone have any experience with interbus? cost, reliability, time to SJO? Thinking about trying them next trip.

Si as have hundreds of others here. Cheap, reliable but little slower than a taxi. A search or looking in the Transportation section instead of posting in Trip Reprts may also help.

It's $10 booked directly with Interbus ($9.50 per person if booked thru Shuttlebus.co.cr):

(On shuttlebus.co.cr, you can pay by Paypal which is much easier than having to send a credit card authorization form for if booking directly thru IB website.)

Whether you book direct or thru Shuttlebus.co.cr, you have to book at least 3-4 days ahead.

did Interbus 3 times inc my last trip a couple of weeks ago, 2 times worked great, fast & cheap. The other time I had to wait for another passenger, then they claimed traffic was bad so the shuttle was delayed picking us up. It ended up costing me 1 1/4 hrs of my time to save $5. As they say in vegas, it's a crap shoot!

To save $17.50. It's $27 for a taxi somebody recently reported. Taxi fares are getting out of control. As long as gringos keep coming, they will keep raising them.

I like Shuttle bus because you pay through Paypal.

I was 1 hour late but they were out there waiting. You have to walk out the door to look for the person holding a sign wiht your name. There are a lot of hotel drivers holding signs up against the glass and that will confuse you. You will think your name should be there too. So remember to walk out to see the guy holding up your name.

Cost is $9:50 and takes the same time as a taxi.

Interbus typically offer fast reliable service. Our van driver Rigo does pickups at the airport for $25 and deliveries for $20. He can be scheduled through me or the reception desk at the Dunn Inn.

My usual modus operandi is to go upstairs, buy exit tax, change money, then come outside & offer a taxi driver 8k colones to go to my hotel. This amount has been accepted every time. Since 8k colones is $15-16usd, I saved $5-6usd by using interbus.

Nice info and a good alternative to the airport taxis.

So, you do not have to wait until you leave to pay the exit tax,...you can get it out of the way while on the way in? I'll do this next trip to avoid a large line.

Correct. I pay the tax, get that nuisance out of the way, then change $500 or so & I've got a pocketful of colones ready to spend on the chicas!!! In a cab & away I go-Look out sjo!
