I HAVE A FEW FRIENDS WHO DECIDED TO PARTAKE IN THE SUITE AT THE HOTEL DEL REY....FOR A PRETTY PRICEY SUM...(3 BEDROOMS)

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS STAYED THERE ... HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO ANY OF THE OTHER SUITES ... SL, AMISTAD, DUNN-INN, ETC

AND WHAT GREAT AMENITIES OR ADVANTAGES ARE THEIR TO IT OTHER THEN BEING THE LOCATION IN THE BELLY OF THE BEAST. IS IT PRIME TIME MEGA PARTY WORTHY? (YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD WAIVE THE DAMN CHICA FEE...LOL)

IN SUMMARY...I AM A COSTA RICAN VET AND BEEN THERE COUNTLESS TIMES, BUT HAVE NEVER SEEN THE SUITES IN THE DEL REY ... AND NEITHER HAVE THEY ... SO I CAN NOT TRULY SCHOOL THEM. THEY ARE JUST PAST THE NEWBIE STAGE ... BUT JUST WANTING TO GO FOR IT ... WHAT MIGHT BE DISSAPPOINTING IN A MOVE LIKE THIS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SUITES AND/OR WHAT SHE WE PREPARE FOR OR BE EQUIPPED FOR IN A POSITIVE WAY

THANKS

I've stayed at the HDR in the regular rooms but never the three bedroom suite. Based on the regular rooms which i figure the suite is the same but larger you would do better to stay at another place. I have said it before on this site several times...if you are looking for a suite close to the action but nice you should stay at Executive Penthouse Properties. I'm already booked for Penthouse 1 Labor Day weekend and Penthouse 2 over Halloween.

THERE ARE NO ADVANTAGES, BE PREPARED FOR $10 ELEVATOR RIDES, BUT YOU CAN CHECK OUT BULLET HOLES BUT THEY WON'T LET YOU TAKE PICTURES OF THEM. IF YOU ARE A VET YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER.

The one advantage you will have other than the non-suite rooms is a balcony with chairs, tables and great views of San Jose. You and your buddies can bring up a couple of chicas and party out there. Unfortunately you will still have to pay the chica fees . I'm one of the guys who has been around for awhile but still loves to stay and play at the Del Rey :D

Thanks all for the constructive responses...

Again, I am not personally staying in these suites...but friends are and of course I will be crashing periodically should group activity break out :D

I understand where your coming from FIREDUDE ... but for all the benefits there are to staying in the belly of the beast ... the way I do my business in Costa Rica it has been a long time since the del rey was an option for me, but for these guys...it fits the way they do their business coming down once a year for a few days and doing the volume thing. As long as they find the value and enjoyment of it ... its all good...thanks for your summary

Florida John, I actually did try to direct them to the Penthouses in your link and even contemplated staying there myself, but in checking availability, the days I needed were not available so that became to be not an option ... I am comfortable with staying away from "ground zero", but I think their comfort zone of having all the action at there finger tips 24/7 weighed out for them ... but the Penthouses will definitely be an option for future visits

911 Driver ... Thanks for your commentary ... Not exactly sure what "Bullet Holes" are and taking pictures of them ... and again my personal plans are to stay elsewhere --- and Oh yeah...be careful in inadvertantly typing in ALL CAPS ... or ORANGE ... The CAPS POLICE will get ya :)

thanks all

They'll have fun. I had friends that stayed in the penthouse there and it's ok. The Presidente, SL, Penthouse suites and the other places mentioned here are better, IMO. But being at ground zero does have its advantages. The Del Rey is a lot of fun and being able to just be at the center of the action is a blast without having to go and from.

Florida John, could you give some more info on the Executive Penthouse suites. I have stayed at the Presidente suite the last three years, but this looks like a much less expensive, yet viable alternative. No problems with chicas (like the grilling they now get at el presidente?). Many thanks

Traveling:

A suite at the Del Rey is one bedroom. The other two bedrooms would be the adjoining rooms. The DelRey has two suites I had stayed in both of them. There are photographs on my website. Just follow link at the end of this message.
