Anyone know if the renovations are done on the Hotel Cocal? Also, any idea what the renovations are for? Thanks

Hi I saw your old post. The Hotel Cocal has new rooms facing the parking lot. AC, and nice beds, coffee maker , refrigerator. I stayed 2x. Once in a room with a beach view. It was old. Then the next time for the same price overlooking the parking lot. I looked at the Copapcabana on the outside. The Cocal looks nicer.

I will check it out next week. I would think the renovations are done by now. Last time I had friends there, the rooms facing the beach were very nice.

The last time I went there I didn't go in. We were just there because my fav girl had left her passport at reception so I drove her on a day trip to pick it up  . She said its a nice place.

I've stayed there a few times. You probably do not need reservations. The restaurant, right on the beach, is spectacular for breakfast and lunch. The pools are OK and there is a nice cabana bar with a couple of chicas hanging out in the early evening. One time a chica bartender gave me her number. I was flattered, but I'm sure she would come with a price. The security is good. Now for the bad: its very basic and there will be bugs in the bathroom at night (I don't mind, as, thanks to Uncle Sam, I've slept in the jungle many times); it's a little noisy in the morning when the cleaning crew starts their work.

Regardless, I would return in a heartbeat, b/c it's a great deal, right on the beach.

What kind of bugs and is this very common out there or just at this hotel?
