Still open, Nixon is gone. Long time customer came over this morning and said they were charging the girl fee and for drinks for casino players.

Wow BK, thats too bad, Nixon was a really good guy (atleast he was good to me). I guess they just wanted to get away from putas in the lobby? I know in a 12 month period, I dropped atleast $5-6k plus a lil gambling and food, a lot of room service for the chicas (I used to bail hay as a 12yr old K*D. Farmer always fed his help. I take the same logic with my "help"). I know that's chump change to them but you multiply that by the # of mongers there, and there were several each time, that adds up, A LOT. Its not like they are going to attract more eco tourists because mongers/putas are not there. Atleast, not enough to make up the difference. I guess it is a Tico logic thing :? OTOH, isn't the hotel owned by non-tico's?

No the hotel has always been owned by a Tico, The casino license is owned by the same Tico and he leased it the the Management group.

Over Holloween weekend while in HDR, Nixon stopped me to say Hi. Nixon said that he is hoping to return to the Clarion AND to be able to offer the same deal as before when we booked thru him, $75/night room rate and NO chica fee.
Unfortunately, at the time I was walking out with my chica and did not get to spend much time with him. But he made it a point to say he has all of his customers email addresses and will contact us when he has something definite.
Always enjoyed staying at the Clarion, but LA has now earned my repeat business.
